I hate to be that guy, but man, I'm really not feeling the direction Berserk has taken. I think I just like the Golden Age arc too much. Puck, Lil' Witch Girl, and the young boy dilute Guts for me. Not to say it's horrible, though, esssssssssss ok still.

Been marathoning Chihayafuru. I like it a lot, goofy girl, not too over the top sports shounen, awesome shoujo style animation. Almost done with the second season, team tournament was dragged out so long good god.

Don't you fucking talk bad about Schierke or I WILL END YOU. Honestly, I barely remember where the fuck their at now it's been so sporadic. Like, they said it would finally be monthly serialized again and that lasted for only 3 or 4 months. Fucking Miura is too busy playing Idolmaster.

Chihayafuru rules. Great show all around, great manga.

Also, they ruined Boku Dake splendidly. Haven't watched the last episode but man they just decided "fuck it" on episode 10.

Satoshi Kon was one of my favorite directors of all time, one of the few times a stranger's death made me cry --although his heartbreaking farewell letter probably had a lot to do with that.

Just read the letter he wrote. I'm watching as many of his films as I can get my hands on. Very emotional letter. Seemed like a good guy that was all about creativity. That alone deserves checking out his work.

It had me bawling from the first sentence where he apologizes for not finishing his last movie.

If you like his work, then Mamoru Hosoda is another director you need to look into. His pacing is a lot more traditional Japanese in styling (slower, more emphasis on the mundane, etc) but he's fantastic all the same.
