tube dirt as I have discussed before is kind of the opposite of the digital stuff, easier to develop in terms of complexity with the main problem being the huge amount of money it costs to build. Ben is doing a good job with it it seems but he did have to collect a ton of money up front to get it moving as transformer costs are fuckin massive esp if your going to do a xformer DI which needs to be a decent xformer to have full frequency output

Yeah I totally commend Ben on his efforts with the tube pres. Seems like for the most part those who have them love them

then there is the size thing, it seems a lot of people like shit small and smaller. Thats not how I build so again a turn off for some people.

Bleh. It seems like the tube pres are replacing a load of pedals for some, or at least nocking enough pedals off to make room for them with what the tube pre does

and in the end there isnt a whole lot of difference between a tube pre and tube dirt. If your going to properly run the tube at proper operating voltages then its not much different beyond total # of functions
in other news I scored a bunch of Ge PNP Qs the other day. Wow some of them a very nice with HFEs from 100-200 and leakage under 30 uA

That's awesome! I've got a bag of NPN's on the way from Russia. Didn't feel like only using battery with some designs I wanted to try out, so I ordered the NPN!

NPN Ge are rare although I have some but mostly PNP. Its not a big deal if your designing from the ground up nowadays cuz u can use charge pumps to invert the power supply from your main supply.

Yeah. That makes sense. I need to look into charge pump designs because the only one I've actually looked at was chip based

there are only IC based ones as far as I know. MAX1044 or LTC1044 ect ect. Will only work on a PCB design of course. For turrets I would just need to make a dedicated negative voltage supply. I will not use positive ground stuff.

It's definitely a smaller market than the behemoths of Strymon and Eventide, but there are companies who prospered as a result of their efforts. Still, you're entirely right, Nick, there are many factors to consider, and it would be a huge undertaking. But I think it's worth it.

Just sent you an e-mail over, getting you paid and figuring out how I want the amp to look.
Which brings you lot in, I could use some suggestions on how I want my Dunwich to look. I really wanna use dark Vox diamond grill cloth and have kind of a classic looking design. Any ideas? I was thinking something like this

But flipped upside down and with a taller head cab, so there's a little more diamond grill cloth. And then in the middle of the grill cloth the Dunwich badge like on Shannon's amp here:

I was thinking Black tolex and light piping but I could be swayed otherwise. Any suggestions dudes? Stained? Different colors? Fonts for faceplate? All good questions.

Playing some TeleBari through the Upper Huger and listening to Ufomammut is probably the best thing ever...

Getting my Oso Blanco Toanz Down... Telebari > Upper Huger w/ Ox Fuzz Bass > Nadine > Bass Bloom in Loop > Huger > RRR > Peavey =
