lol ask New Yorkers about cig tax, that shit sucks for them.
GMO foods aren't fine for us or the environment. I love you, but this is about the most ignorant thing I've ever seen posted in here. By mixing genes from totally unrelated species, genetic engineering unleashes a host of unpredictable side effects. The very process of creating a GM plant can result in massive collateral damage that produces new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and nutritional deficiencies. People can eat what they want, but I avoid anything GMO and I've even started making my own eco friendly round up for killing weeds in my yard.

To avoid starting this up again since its sort of died down we can chat offline but my main comment is just back that kind of statement up with published results in peer reviewed journals or I do not have any reason to believe that. Im going to keep coming back to that point. AFAIK there are no published studies from reputable journals that show any of those things you have listed. I have seen a few poorly done studies which were then ripped apart with a few being retracted. Just like how climate change is debated by climate scientists in published journals, and not be non-experts in unrelated fields or politicians.

I can't wait till we can talk about weed in this exact same way in this country.
I feel like I should drive around locally and take pics of all the Weed shops. (collectives/whatev) and just show off. That's kinda mean. I won't

Disagree. Engineered food is not Ok, it's really a lie.
I don't consume GMO's - i'm one of those folks!
I don't like Phish, either.
Show me the published, peer reviewed science from a reputable journal that backs that up or I will dismiss that without much consideration.
There is valid science on both sides. The overwhelming preponderance of it is on the large corporations side due to the fact that they have massive funding and those against GMO on a nutritional basis have zero funding.
It is however not debatable that the rise in food alergies corresponds with the rise of GMO's. I eat em. You kinda have to unless you are rich or have enough time to grow your own food. even if you do at this point in the U.S. the seeds you buy are likely GMO and it will probably recieve pollination from GMO crops if you are trying to keep seeds going so... yeah, good luck with that. Damage done.
I think the larger issue that is an often ignored side effect of GMO's is the pesticide use.
GMO's are engineered to be more resiliant to larger concentrations of pesticides. This increases profits due to less loss of the crops. From a financial standpoint this is great for the megafarms and the yield increases. Year after year they dump more chemicals on the crops and after a very short time, all that can be grown on the land are the GMO strains that are able to deal with the chemical conentration levels that are present in the soil.
No big deal right?
What do plant need to create seed?
Pollination.
What insect provides that and is currently mysteriously dying off in record numbers?
So weather or not GMOs are good or bad for you they reduce species diversity and increase insect die off which sounds great but will have ramifications for the rest of the environment.
Ok, I'm done.
Hippies suck

Holy shit, it got political in here.
You guys are all fucking hippies. It could be a good thing or a bad thing....
Creamy DNA....ooooh yeah.
Ok, seriously now, you American guys, don't ever EVER bitch to m about the price of alcohol. You wanna know what we pay for a six pack of moderately priced beer down here? Anywhere from $14-17 depending on the brand and locality factor.
And I doubt we will ever know legal weed, although there has at least been the concession from a couple of high profile politicians who are, granted, more progressive thinking than their party cohorts, in the elected conservative party that have conceded he war on drugs has been lost and we need to look at decriminalizing some substances. Finally.
We have decriminalized weed in the ACT (funny that

) and in SA though, so that's a start.
What's most ridiculous and still pertinent to that though, is that the premier of QLD just launched a war against bikies. What a nutsack. But I have conspiracy theories about that shit as well...

Fosters is so shit they don't even sell it here, but it's marketed like its the only thing we have.
Bikie is the Australian term for one who is a member of an outlaw motorcycle club, the the Rebels, Bandidos, or Hell's Angels.
They run the drug racket down here, as well as a few other rackets as well. But, normal people don't have a problem with em, you gotta fuck up real bad and owe em money before they give a shit about you.

Bahaha! Gold.
I'll fill you in. Basically, because we are lazy, we tend to just shorten things and put 'ie' or 'ey' on the end of them, and it happens to everything. Even stuff that's already short and mono-syllabic gets the treatment, so Matt become Matty.
Just so we can go "Matteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! How's ya missus! Get a root last night!? Nah? Farkin poooftaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
We are retarded, en masse.
