I just use a regular house fan and solder outside. Keeps fumes out of my face and living area. Sucks during the winter though.

The Dirge burrow is quite deep at this point haha, more like a rabbit hole. I seem to be too all over the place to migrate outside to solder, I'd have to bring my work table, my stool, an extension cord hahaha. 2 hour set up and take down hahahah

i hear ya...just sanding the parts for the East German guitar is a whole operation because the dust level is way beyond bearable to do indoors, and it takes me several minutes just to tote the necessary things outside and set them on the lawn.

I just blow the fumes away myself. I have a breathing routine like when lifting weights where I exhale as soon as I begin soldering
Not perfect but better than nothing. The fumes really do go straight for your face, no matter what...you can be ducking under the desk and that shit will search the room before finding and descending upon you like a vulture. Like that smoke demon from Fern Gully. That dude was badass.
For sanding anything I use a fancy mask with replaceable filters; THAT stuff will quickly mess me up. I've probably got some kinda cancer on the way from years of second-hand smoke, so I'm not immediately worried about the solder fumes.

Still wouldn't be a bad idea to make a little fume sucker thing.

i smoked cigarettes for twenty-eight years, have smoked dope since i was 14, and probably have incipient COPD...anything i inhale now is just one step closer to being done here, so i don't care any more.

I'm still ignoring the fact that drinking put me in the ER two weeks ago.

Work has been hell tonight. Weekends are such a toss up between very mundane and crazy-shit-all-the-time-holy-fuck. Can't wait to sleep

i've had to come to terms with the fact that i won't be able to keep Mimi, the kitten that Doug took in. it really breaks my heart because Mimi is everything i love in a cat--odd-tabby pattern, fluffy, with the huge ears and paws that denote she'll grow up to be a great big fluffball of love--but it's probably for the best...Doug's gf has totally fallen in love with Mimi and will probably take her in, and my Lulu was here first and truly loves me, and doesn't really like anyone else or other cats. she needs 100% attention, so as long as we're together she'll probably be my only cat. i'm just hoping that wherever i go, i'll be able to take Lulu. i don't know if i can bear losing the cat i love again so soon after my evil ex took the cats we'd shared.

i've been having terrible mood swings, from weepy to cheerful at the drop of a hat. i suppose some of this is inevitable due to the stress level. i'm having heavy-duty fight-or-flight reactions that make me want to run until i cannot breathe any more. some of it may also be that i started a new prescription med and my metabolism is figuring out what to do with its serotonin and what-not given ANOTHER compound fucking with it. but it sucks, and i hate having to take a cornucopia of prescription drugs to remain marginally functional. i suppose it's better than being totally mad. at least i'm a couple of steps from sleeping in the streets.

That blows.. It got dangerously close to the powerboard and I have a lot of soggy velcro but there looks to be no casualties, thankfully. I hope I can learn from that mistake.
