for youtube;
take the s out of http, then bracket
if it does not work, check the end of the link, if you see an & anywhere, remove the & and everything after it..

Can we not just fix the youtube video thing on the site? When I post a video on TB, I never have to remove anything.

Fake answer: Maybe, from now on, only post videos on TalkBass? :idk:

Real answer: I think that might entail a forum software upgrade/update. We don't have the financial resources here that TalkBass does. :idk:

I bet we could but you're probably right.

I hardly ever post anything on TB, I just know that you don't have to do that there. I don't pay for my membership but others do. So, they can afford to do a lot of stuff.

I updated to El Capitan and still can't see Youtube videos embedded here (it's a white square). Using Safari. This is the only place I visit where I have this issue. Safari not supported here, or...?

I'm still running Yosemite. I can see embedded YouTube vids in Safari.

Is there something up with your Flash or other settings maybe?

Problems like yours are why I include a link below embedded vids when I post 'em though. :idk: Hope you can resolve it.

The forum was glitchin' out?

(I don't believe that's a real number. I think it was a bug in the system.)

Probably.

Remember we we all agreed to try and beat the record and then a bunch of people didn't even get online?

I miss shit like that.

Yep, it was a glitch. I remember it (for some reason).
But yes, we should try and beat the record.

I could be wrong on this, but there may be issues even after an upgrade since this site doesn't have https enabled. Sometimes elements embedded from https sources don't work correctly on non-https sites for security reasons. This is often much more of an issue with putting embedded http content on https enabled sites, but I've seen it from both directions

Edit: Thought this post was from May, turns out it's from Feb... Sorry

Nah, that's fine. Don't worry about it. Nothing's changed from Feb. until now.

Next time we upgrade the forum software it'll probably be a big step. Since I've been here I think we've only upgraded maybe a couple times. :idk: Likely those upgrades were only to keep the forum minimally functional.

Pretty sure we've never been https-enabled for embedding though. I remember having to always remove the "s" when embedding YouTube videos.

I can see Youtube videos! Not sure what was wrong after the OS update, maybe I hadn't restarted when I posted that ^

(duh)

I still think it's nice to post the direct Youtube link, for people who are on older systems (although maybe I'm the only one complaining about it)

:hello:
