so time to really think about my tattoo is approaching...and I cant decide between black or colour.

the theme will be something like this...



Cthulhu themed...4 tenticles to peak out of the water, representing 40years...

the original idea i had was colour...with the frame being gold, the top half of the picture being a red/orange sunset and the water being green/blue which is fades to dark blue as it gets deeper.

now, I only have two other tats on my forearms, both colour and both nautical'ish...so given I already have colour, i was thinking black would be better...in that case the composition may change (which i will leave up to the artist)

anyway...i'm just fishing for opinions really.

i'm finally giving a few tattoos some serious thought, i have some pretty specific but also not so specific ideas in mind for about 7 or 8 tattoos. i'd want them all to be 100% original art and probably mostly, if not all, traditional style. can anyone suggest a good bay area artist or is anyone on here considered to be highly skilled and qualified? (not reading 83 pages of this thread nor am i going to waste everyone's time by making a new thread)

@walt - I checked out the tattoo conventions nearby to get an idea of what people were doing.
Behndy is relatively local, so he might have some ideas. But you know, you'll probably end up with tentacles.

@sam - my two favourite tattoo colours are red and cadmium orange (hopefully not containing real cadmium), so I'm partial to that. But if you went black I'd go black work rather than black and grey. Kinda pointillist

Haha, so yesterday I was at a club in Stockholm that offered free tattoos. Me and my mate figured "why not?"



It's kinda quirky, but I really like it actually. It's small enough and I feel like whenever I become some gray bureaucrat I'll always be reminded of what also matters most

Thanks man! The tattoo artist was a big fan of music himself and we discussed music the entire time he was making it.

Yeah, that is a good bad tattoo. I've been thinking about getting some bad tattoos, but I don't want SHITTY tattoos.

The place I was thinking about getting them done went out of business, which seems like a sign.

friends are best for getting good bad tattoos I think, or someone learning.

Haha I like the name good bad tattoo. That picture kinda makes it look worse than it looks from here though. I'm happy that the outline isn't fucked, I feel like that would be the difference between a good bad tattoo and a shitty tattoo maybe
