Depends on how extensive your two boards will be, mang.
Why don't you just put a tuner before the splitter?

Re: FOR GOD SAKES MAN POST SOME BOOBS (TB Mega Thread)
hurm. well, one board is like 10 pedz? no signal loss that i care about running through that right now. the second board should be about 4 or 5 pedz i think.
i guess i'm worried about an impedance issue? like, the way you need an Expressionator to run multiple inputs off of one expression pedal instead of using a y-splitter. do i need something powered so it isn't halfing the signal (or some more smart way to say that) the bass signal coming in.
murrrrr?

NOT trying to be snarky in asking...
...what will a tuner do there?

yah. splitter would be first spot of the chain, not mid where it would need a buffer?

Using a buffered tuner helps fight against signal degradation and square the impedance of your chain?
I'm still on my first cup of coffee, so that might not actually make any sense.

soooooooo......... if i want to split my bass signal to two boards with a splitter as the first stop in my chain, is a passive one okay? or do i need something powered? will it degrade the signal strength/quality if it's passive?
i'm a GIDGIT about stuff like that.
I would use a powered splitter. It wouldn't (shouldn't) be that much more expensive than a passive one.

groovy. i'll look around for one. do i have to be worried about what type of buffer it is to prevent tone coloration?

Maybe EHX makes one you can drop in next to the SuperEgo?

A well built buffer will have relatively little effect on the tone (comparing one buffer to another), but it will be audible depending on the listening situation. A piece of advice from Jack Orman's website (DIY guru) was JFET buffer for input buffers, opamp buffer for output buffers. If in doubt, opamp buffers are always good. I built the one on http://www.muzique.com/tech/buffer.htm - anyone in the shark tank could do it for ya for cheapz. I could do it but I live in like the north pole and it's probably not worth postage. Better idea: Get Dan to do it, and etch the fuck out of it while he's at it.

The Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso has an Orman-based buffer circuit as well as the 35dB boost. I've got an earlier version (w/the fat switch), if you want to give it a try...

Shirley one of the many pedals you have just laying aboot collecting dust has mono in and stereo out? Could use that as ghetto splitter.
Dwarfcraft made a little box that split your signal into three, but it seems to have been discontinued, even the demo has been pulled from youtube. One of the HPPavillion'ers should be able to build you a simple buffered splitter if you're worried about the signal getting degraded down to your level. Hell, even DannO))) should be able to do that in a very ECCHI box.

You shouldn't worry too much. Some drop the output a little, but they generally aren't as common.
Are you thinking just a mono in, stereo out with no switching, or an a/b/y?

Re: FOR GOD SAKES MAN POST SOME BOOBS (TB Mega Thread)
hurm. i guess ideal would be a 1 in, 2 out, all mono. then a footswitch to turn the second output on/off, but have output 1 always on.
then i could put it first on the second board, be able to run just one amp or both. or if i only need/want the first board, nothing's been changed on it so it's it's own stand-alone goofy self? that make sense?

Re: FOR GOD SAKES MAN POST SOME BOOBS (TB Mega Thread)

These two used together with these settings thru my Rig and Dingwall created the most perfect Distortion sound I've ever heard last night. It made me think that all I really need are these two and a suboctave pedal of some sort. I'm probably going to sell everything except my Source Audio stuff, which I guess means my FEA Photon, Opti-Fet and 3Leaf WonderLeaf.
The Photon Fuzz is awesome, but the Hoof has killed it for me. The Opti-Fet compressor was exactly what I needed for my compressor, was having a hard time of keeping my sound even. I don't have that problem with the Dingwall, so its too nice of thing just to have around. The Wonderleaf ultimately sounds better at what it does than the BEF Pro, but its harder to dial in and not as flexible.
I also realized last night how much I hate my home rig, I know I'm limited because of how loud I can play in an apartment, but the cab I'm using is a shitty approximation of my "big rig" tone.
So, I think I'm going to sell off the three pedals and pickup one of the new Second Voice Deluxes assuming and can do the suboctave that I need (it should do some Microsynth tones as well) and run a band board with the Hoof, Monarch and SVD. Then I'll keep the SA stuff on the PT Jr. Then I'm going to find a minor upgrade for my home practice.
Boom!
