Today I kept wanting to buy something. So I looked at a bunch of pedals, both PCBs and pre-built pedals, and nothing hit me. Then I looked at guitar bodies- Telecaster bodies, pine, Strat bodies with weird routings, etc. Then I looked at amps. I don't want an amp. I looked at pedal layouts and I didn't even really find one that I wanted to build at all. Am I GAS free?

That's pretty sexy. It kinda looks like the edges of the body aren't as "soft" or rounded as older and newer Strats?

Hows are the neck and the sound?

It's weird, I've read that lighter pieces of wood are higher quality and better for guitars but the super heavy 70s and 80s Les Paul Customs sound the best to me. Maybe it's just the pickups or something but the heavier the LP the more I seem to like it.

Much less pleasant than the one I had before, huh? You'll get used to it though.

I can't tell if I want to pay someone to build a replica of this or if I want to try and do a DIY project - or just fork over the funds to Manson once they have the replicas in stock again so I save myself the trouble and humiliation of failing...

Probs around that if it's one of the vintage MIJs.

If it's a reissue, maybe like half that considering no one's bought my SC300 at $160...

Still no GAS :( I found a setting between my #1 Echo set to infinite repeat and my Rub A Dub Reverb running into it that equates to the Red Panda Reverb that I was looking at when it first came out. GAS still averted :p

It's a reissue, but that's still about average. People in b/s/t are just bein' dumb or something. :idk:
Even though it's a reissue, they haven't been sold here for like 11 years and even then it was only for a minute. Production of all models stopped in 2007.
I got mine for $200 but I also got super lucky looking for used ones at Guitar Center's site.
There are like 4-5 per year on ebay, and I've only once seen the SGV800, the twin humbucker version.
The trem system requires a metric arm, but it has to be juuust the right size. Some metric Strat trems will work but it feels kinda off to me...you can't order most of the replacement parts from Yamaha's stock site anymore so good luck ever getting the real trem arm.

Super fuckin' cool guitar though and I love the pickups and switching system. Be aware of the pretty small neck. If you use strings heavier than .10s you will probably need to tweak the trem system a bit as it only uses two springs and gets kinda weird with heavier strings. I have .13 flats on mine and added a small copper strip between the two spring posts so I could add a third one, which seems to have done the trick.

When no GAS for existing circuits there is, come the time has. Design your own fuzz, you must.
