I didn't read it. That was just the subject line. It popped up in my SPAM folder and I promptly forever deleted it.

My dad's cell phone fell out of his pocket while we were at someone house, after about 30 minutes of driving he wanted to use it, surprise, it wasn't there. so I called it and, to our amazement, the guy whose house we were at picked up, So we drove a half hour back to his house and then another hour home, whatever more time with pops is cool.

Does Lightning Bolt still start playing as soon as the band before them stops?
Why can't all bands do that? Why can't that be the new standard?

Well they probably don't soundcheck for shit, but I agree, more acts/venues should encourage quick changes.
The main spot for smaller bands in my town always has crazy long breaks in between bands for no apparent reason and it drives me crazy. I hypothesize that it's done to encourage buying drinks, which sucks on many levels because alcohol is evil (not really, but most definitely) and it keeps people at the venue way later than necessary and people are less likely to come see the opening bands. BOO.

When I was doing work with a sound company we always had problems changing bands out. It was a combination of bands moving slow and the FOH guy not being ready without soundcheck.
Nobody ever wants to backline equipment. Nobody rushes to pack up because they don't want to risk damaging their gear. There is never enough room to have a loading and unloading spot, so you can only move one band at a time. But it is always the drummer who takes the longest. Even small kits take forever to get into position and then mic. Plus monitor adjustments after.
There's just no winning.

Well, circumstances aren't always ideal and people do the best with what they can, but line-checks/setting levels set with the audience just standing around is lame.

I have a french exam tomorrow
i'm freaking the fuck out... if i pass this semester, i'll have the compulsory second foreign language done and i'm good... I have three tries. the fail line is 70% (fucking shit, neither of OUR English courses has 70%!) but even though I basically studied hardcore for five days, I've got a feeling I know shit, so i'm really nervous
it's mainly because I can't deal with the handouts... the teacher made them super hard, so i have much better scores with online practicing on the same language level
goddamn French
WHY
(oddly enough, according to the statistics, it's easier than the first semester.. what the hell is that sorcery)
