Not at all the same thing, but some interesting spring based noise makers here as well.

Ok, so I'm a total noob when it comes to synths. I really like my buddy's Akai Miniak, but I'd like something similar that also does a decent piano sound. The synth sounds are the primary need here, so the piano sounds don;t need to be perfect. Any thoughts? The MPK49 seemed like what I wanted, but then I realized it was a controller and would rather not have to worry about hooking it up to a laptop/similar to make sounds. I don't need a huge range of keys either.

Fuck vintage, this thing kills! and its ugly  So awesome! Well, if Roland just left off the green trim that surrounds the case it wouldn't look so hideous.

Yeah man, I picked it up at banjo center. From what I'm hearing, stores are receiving two or three units at a time

I don't know why it's taken me so long to discover analog synths.
this voyager is magic.
I think I NEED a poly analog synth asap as well as the moog.
suggestions? something with as much flexibility as a Prophet 08, but looser in tone. moar analog...

Maybe look into the AKAI AX80 or AX60, they're analog (I think), and sound fantastic. Also, they're usually $300/500 range, depending on where you are.

those ax73 are nice synths.
I'm going to start saving up for a prophet 12. It has the slop feature that does exactly what I want "random detune, to simulate the instability of a VCO"
I'll have to go hear it in person to judge for myself, but It's looking to be another expensive addition.... :P
