Cloud Atlas..... is NOT good. i'll pick it up on the home release to see if i'm just missing something.... but i think i get what they're going for. it's just a disjointed mess trying to get there. they use the same 4 or 5 actors for different main characters in each thread, and the horrible makeup is distracting and/or vaguely racist. plus it's got Tom Hanks in it. i wouldna have gone if i knew that. fucking HATE watching that guy. almost as much as i can't stand Hugh Grant. good thing they're BOTH in it. dood from Perfume was good though. i lahhhhhhhk heem.

it's got all the bullshit I Read One Book On Philosphy sophmoric "spirituality" going through out it that they were SO DEEEEEEEEEP when they jammed it into Matrix 2 & 3, it was 3 hours which was about an hour and a half too long, some of the visuals and character design were REALLY impressive.... but yah. kinda a shitty movie.

Tarentino was the guy who insured the RZA to investors, basically. They're putting his name all over the trailers because some marketing douche was like "hey I betz the RZA isn't as well know to movie doods as QT, and we can get the elusive "premature ejaculating fourteen year old" demographic if we litter his name in theresz!"

havna read the book. if the Wachowski's aren't involved (good GAWD i'd hate to be around them when they're drunk and pontificating on their amazingly profound spiritual beliefs) i'm into it. 's good? 'm almost done with Snow Crash (again. LOVE THAT BOOK.) so i need sumphin' else.

also, i DO love that they now call themselves the Wachowskis, in the credits it was Andy Wachowski, LANA Wachowski and the other director i do not know. yay successful gender reassignment surgery!

Glad to hear that all's well, aside from the hellacious hours, Hoy. That said, free evenings and more family time is good stuff indeed!

Eh; the hours I can handle. I can do anything with the support of my family. It's easier when I get to actually spend time doing things that are truly important and relevant.

Unfortunately it's a co-op so they can't really afford to pay time and a half; but management has decided to short staff the deli. The amount of work is still the same. If they aren't willing to staff the deli appropriately; they can pay me OT or put me on a salary. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to demonize management; they are working with what they have. All departments are short staffed. Everyone pitches in and helps out. People from other departments will pop over and help out in a pinch. I love my co-op,...it's the only place I buy groceries so it would stand to reason that it should be the only place I'd want to work.

I can handle it,...I've done worse. My true worry is that a skeleton deli crew is gonna burn out quick.

How you east coasters coping with the Sandy aftermath. I've got family in rural parts of eastern PA who are without power. Haven't talked to any of them since Monday.
