Shit dude, even though I was only there for ILFest, that room is a memory of happiness and community. It sounds really painful for you, too, having all those memories connected to it. I hope you guys can find another place soon
Not sure if I can make it down for the final show cuz of work, but I'd love to if I can.

spent all evening on the internet trying to find the right knobs for the East German Musima guitar i got in the b/s/t. apparently the only thing close to the rod-through-a-knob Varitone control lever is a NOS Framus part that costs so much in € that i didn't even bother to convert it to dollars. well, that's kind of what i get for buying a wacky old guitar. but still it bothers me...i want to take it back to original as much as i can.

Left wrist hurts. Stupid fucking 34" scale, you do not make power chords easy.

If you aren't already, use the index and pinky to cover 'em all instead of trying to twist three fingers on there. It's way easier over most of the fretboard, imo. The problem for me is keeping myself from doing it on guitar.

Yeah I've switched to doing that and it has helped a bit, but my hands are still pretty small. Even when I have my bass riding on my nipples I feel like my wrist is torquing improperly, just a bit. & nipple riding ain't that comfortable. Meh.. I guess I'l just try stretching more.
I wish I didn't fall on my hands so much as a kid. Stupid skateboard.

That's how I always play power chords on guitar. I know it isn't 'proper technique' but it works fine.
^You could try a shorter scale bass? Or a thinner neck maybe, I don't know if it's a good idea to stick with the 34" if it's really that uncomfortable though.

On guitar, I use my ring finger, but on bass I definitely use my pinky for power chords from about the 9th fret down.
I will definitely say that a shorter scale makes a big difference. Even just between my G&L (34") and my Rick (33"), I can definitely tell the difference.
