Holy crap the 4 downloadable resident evil games on the playstation network are totally unplayable.
Res Evil 4 looks okay in HD, but it's not as good as I remember on wii/gamecube.

Re4 was one of the best games on the wii. The graphics were better than any other wii shooter
@terraria, pm me if u want to play. Well do boss fights together with up to 8 people. Better drops from bosses so u make better weapons. I think after you get all the items you just keep working on your house. Anyway if you want more fighting there is a similar game called king arthur's gold but i havent tried it.

sooooooooo...... here's the thing about Steam (heh. RHYME.). you.... HAVE to be online to play a game purchased from them right? i love the idea of a clearing house of weird and/or awesome content that you can trust, but having to run an app on my system to allow me to RUN THE APP ON MY SYSTEM I WANT TO. annnnnnnnnnd what if your out and about on your laptop and want to play a game to kill time in a spot with no WiFI access? you can't run the game then right?
cause....... y'know..... fuck THAT.
that's how Steam works right?

You have to be online to play Steam games in offline mode

I believe you can use Undeadpatch to play them offline. But you have to delete it if you ever, you know, want to update them...

yeah, i mean... it's more just a Hypothetical Offense since i pretty much only game on consoles or hand helds now, but that shit IS offensive to the only way you can abide by their copy protection scheme is to limit the way you can use the content you purchased from them.
much like gun laws, i think stuff like that only hampers people that are going to abide by the law. doesn't really slow down people that are gonna go thugg'n with their guns/hack games without paying for them.
same way i didna want to, but i had to run a hack to use Kontakt and Battery on two separate computers, never at the same time, which i'm S'POSED to be able to do with software i bought.
I AM A CURMUDGEON.

You can play Steam-hosted games offline (single-player only, obviously), but only after the game has been started at least once while on-line (the verification thingy). I'd rather deal with Steam's version of DRM any day, rather than some of the other methods currently used (to bugger up an otherwise-good game).

Yeah, I don't find the steam method annoying at all since if you bought the games on steam, you probably have a working internet connection...

And it doesn't quit the game if your connection drops out or anything. Having to load it once hooked up to the internet is pretty fair imo.

so here's my recent dead island comment. first of all, for what it is, it's a pretty entertaining game. i'm currently on my 2nd character, for what will be my 3rd play through. anyways, i chose Purna, because i think the guns are fun. little did i know, she has a skill that gives you 150% extra XP pretty early on in the game. Basically, i JUST got to the jungle and i'm level 35. to put that in perspective, the first time i played through with Xian Mei, i made it to level 32 in the entire game. but the thing is, it's fucking unbelievably hard because the zombies get stronger with you. i literally got charged by a group of infected and died in about 2 seconds. i'm not so sure i like leveling up so much, because this is harder than my first play with a lower level character.

I'm playing as Xian now, on my first run. I'm on the mission that leads you to the jungle and I'm level...27?
The guns seem so mediocre though, does Purna make them half decent? I might go with her just for the difficulty factor anyway.

well it's not so much the damage as the amount of ammo she can carry. with the right items i can basically make it from repair bench to the next repair bench without using anything except guns. her stamina isn't great and if i start swinging a sword like i did with Xian, i'm basically stuck waiting for a few seconds while an infected eats my face. once you find a good shotgun though, which is no easy task, they're nasty. shotgun headshots are basically instant kills. i got lucky and found a yellow shotgun so i usually just run with that. as for the other guns, you can get good ones from doing missions. finding rare items is hard tho. the only real special weapon that's guaranteed is the Zed's Demise. just wait til you get that with Xian. now that's a fun time.
