Tweaked my back last Monday, poor form on 3x5 squats at 240# followed by 1x5 DL at 345#. Had to focus on upper body and stretching.

Got out for a good MTB ride yesterday but my quads cramped up towards the end BIG TIME.

shit from this mornings workout. Worked up to a 225# 2 Cleans + 1 FS. Before that I had down 3 position cleans up to 175#. Then I did Klokov Press up to 105#. Then I worked up to some heavy back squat singles (225,245,2656,285,295,315) and even pulled out a PR today at 340# / 154.2 kg. Some of that is shown in the below videdo

Have you noticed your gains slowing down at all yet, Nick? I've noticed a lot of people eventually hit plateaus that take months and months of gruelling to surpass, while at the beginning progress was quick because the muscles were already there for the most part, it was just the nervous system catching up with technique and stability.

here is a chart of my progress over time in a few lifts

Gains depend on how you measure them. For me of course primary goals are Snatch and Clean and Jerk numbers, if those are going up you are making technical or strength or both gains. However we could also look at squat weights, dead lift weights, pull weights. Also consistency, how often are you hitting 80-90% lifts, are they just lucky or are they becoming consistent makes.

You made a big jump around this time last year. Are Snatch and Clean And Jerk your primary goals because they're your 'weakest'?

That big jump was the beginning of my olympic lifting coaching so lots of technical gains at that time. Over time strength has caught up slowly so I can move my lifts up as I gain smaller technical improvements.

Just my target goals. whatever you decide are your primary goals that will be the main focus of your training. Power lifters focus on squat, dead, and bench because thats the primary goals of a power lifter.

I am weakest at say benching, and general pressing movements and strongest in pulling movements.

Also here are some fucking awesome pancakes I made today

We are starting a grueling 5 week cycle coming up with a heavy focus on strength. 5 straight max effort sundays!

We make thin pancakes here in our house. We then role them up into a sausage type thing with the filling inside, whether it just be a little lemon juice, orange juice and sugar, or something else entirely. I do buy store-made thick pancakes though. I find them great with traditional Maple Syrup.
