Plantation is soft and squishy but wears out faster and has less traction. Suede is sometime unlined so it's better for warm weather, but is easier to mess up.

I'm really tempted to also get them in cognac at some point, but they aren't cheap (great quality though!) so that would really cut into my gear budget. Decisions, decisions

Dark blue or black jeans work best IMO. Straight fit.
