Thanks to a sweet headsup from Sylnau, I now own Groundwell #1
Which is infinitely awesome because this is EXACTLY the blown out OD I was looking for at the time.
I must ask...
TOM, WHY DID YOU STOP?!?!?!?!?!?!

NUMBER ONE!
Blast from the past, there.
If I remember, Groundswell #1 was a one-off custom request for a transistor overdrive (no clipping diodes). There was some demand for more, so there are maybe 17 out there(?).
They were all built on a modded PCB that wasn't designed for it...I never got around to a refined, dedicated PCB. I guess I didn't feel like it was complex/unique enough to warrant a long-term release. It's super simple, but effective. I quite liked it myself, and more than some other transistor ODs I've tried.

Well, it definitely is a simple pedal. I actually giggled a bit wen I opened it up. Probably not that unique of a circuit, due to it's simplicity, but the starve/bias/whatever it is knob is really effective and just what I was looking for. On either side of the spectrum it really blows up the attack in different ways, making that saggy chaotic attack that I wanted. Also, so far it's great for stacking. Also has real good tone for a simple OD, so it works all around.

yeah. the octave up on this is AMAZING. Not going over to the practice space til Sunday, but I played it through my bass rig last night (v4-b, ported dietz 1x15) and holy moly. Those Hendrix sounds are very accessible. Still need to get used to the octave fuzz mode and play with the hi-trimmers some more to get it at a good setting but the Klang is remarkable.
Turbo mode is a mystery to me ATM but at least i figured out the sweet spot on the knob that's just before pure oscillation. Note rings out for a few seconds then starts collapsing in on itself.
oh and turbo is on a footswitch cos why not?
