Wow great hauls so far!!!

Here's my extremely cool loot. Dowi really knocked it out of the park. Delicious food, what I expect should be a good book, a pedal I've wanted forever (EQ) and a pedal I've never really looked at but seems to fit my needs. The Dweller is FUN. :joy:

Alright alright alright.

I'm always bad about taking a few days to post but I get to play 'father of six elementary age children' so that's good for something.

Thank you, Robert, for the Appalachian goodies! I love that area of the country. My sis lives in W Virginia. And there are TWO [INSERT IASIP GIF because I'm too old to figure out how to embed that] musical toys to play! I can't wait to clear the new kids toys out of the way of the music room to check them out. Especially interested in the ebow!

Stoked stoked.

I love seeing all the love!
Y'all did a great job.

I think we're still waiting to hear from coupleonapkins but everyone else has been Santaed, right?

i'm glad the stuff works for you. i literally read several years of your posts to try and figure out what you like, but most of them were post-basketball team so all i could really glean was that you'd sold almost everything off and now that you're starting up back up you had the obvious stuff covered. my bass playing has always been cleans with the exception of a bit of Jack Casady fuzz occasionally so i have no idea when modern bassists do; the highest tech i'm likely to use dates back to the 1980s-90s, the age of aluminum speaker cones and the first small solid-state bass heads, back when you'd never hear modulation or reverb on bass parts unless you listened to the Cocteau Twins. since you didn't mention a compressor and i see that bassists these days really like them, i found one that's well-reviewed by bassists and can hide under the pedalboard. some isolated power supplies have a 9V AC output which would save having to use the adapter. i got the eBow because Georg from Sigur Rós uses one on a song called, appropriately enough, "E-Bow" (aka "Untitled #6"). apparently Georg bought a 'cello bow and Jonsi got the eBow because they both wanted long sustained stuff, but the eBow didn't work for Jonsi nor the physical bow for Georg, so they swapped and that's why SR sounds like they do today.

i hope the kids don't fight over the train whistle. the coffee mug is from a local (Albemarle County) potter. i was a bit worried it would get busted because i had to pack it up against one side of the box. happy Christmas, and it's good to see you back.

Yay, such fun seeing the hauls/loot!

Here's the non-gear joy that came from vidret:

Image

A very kick-ass t-shirt, cloudberry jam, candy, candy, candy! (Side note to Anton: I actually had a hankering for Daim not that long ago... it used to be available at the Canadian Ikea outlets, but they stopped selling it a while back!).

And I got to taste the Swedish mystery soda Julemust, which wikipedia tells me outsells coca-cola over the holiday season.

Good times!

Edited to add: and an "arpeggio demon" guitar pick, which has a nice thickness to it, should sound cool on the lappie.

I am the Santa of BothNapkins. I hope everything got there ok. It should have gotten to him seven days before XMas but I threw away the tracking info as I have a bad habit of doing.

Awwwwwwww shit!

I didn't put two and two together that Robert was TheDubKits! That makes it all the more special!

Yeah it all made it just fine and will be rightfully enjoyed.

Hey all: have unfortunately been dying of plague and (subsequently) looking after my partner who's caught it from me for the whole holiday period - which is lovely - but Heraclitus knocked the damn thing all the way out of the park. I'll have a post with photos and everything soon, but there was a legitimate can of pure Canadian Maple Syrup. As someone from syrup territory originally, I'm beyond stoked.

Full post coming soon, stay safe everyone, this winter bug is no joke.

Plague did get me, but I have arisen?!? At least I didn't have to wait till Easter!

NE waze, shoutout 2 MSous fer all these copious gifts, which were exceedingly generous as they are wonderful! Finally gonna Waza meself like it's 1991 with the purp D like a true king, wearing my ILF-appointed hoodie gawtdamnnit! We all love those hoodies! Somme treats from La Grange, TX made this Texan a little weepy-eyed, and more haute sauce than I can shake a ham hock at! I've never indulged in making beignets at the homme, so that'll be a 2024 adventure I'll probably have to disconnect the fire alarm 4 (typical holidaze tradishion, obvs). Two big t-shirts and a disc of those crazy cowboys wrapped it all up - thank you for all of it, Santanianandian! Peace be to all the other Satans, OAM, Tom, Rip Taylor, the guys who invented Scantrons, Big Bill Broonzy, your dog Skip & the city of Amarillo, TX!

Yeah, that hoodie is so sick. I regret not joining so bad. Will be part of next year's SS, no doubt.

ILF Hoodie best hoodie.
SO: The kit, clothed and unclothed, because the wrapping is too good not to share - plus cat tax for lateness:

Haven't had a chance to get into the hot sauce yet, but - the rice is delicious, the raven book is wildly interesting & gorgeous, I've already chatted about the absolute diety-tier of the syrup, the Your and You're is essentially a massive fuck off squarewave which brings to mind the sound of the early Body when you're detuned and aggro (which I always am these days on string-things)... which means I am in love with it; and the Ming Qi is absolutely brilliant and is getting slotted in as a secondary sound source for the quiet band alongside the synth board.

I haven't messed with contact-mics, singing, or warping inputs in a while but it's something I used to spend a lot of time doing and I'm very keen to go back to it with this resonator in hand. When I powered it up I just drummed on my desk for literal hours, which I could blame on the flu/covid/whatever but I've continued to do it regularly. Soon I'll try it with an input, honest. :!!!:

And the album: https://cosmichomeostasis.bandcamp.com/ ... ansmission is wicked as well! Very rad! And cosmic homeostasis is quite the rabbit hole of cool & interesting things as well :!!!:

It took me an obscenely long to time post this, but I opened my gift. My secret santa knocked it out of the park! The candy is delicious. The tea is tasty, I used to buy the flavor when I was a tea drinker ages ago. So, it’s been nice having it again. I always forget Laowiz is still making pedals, and this thing is RAD. I tried it out with my guitar, and it’s been lots of fun! The music is doomy, and really nice. I’m excited to read the books I received, too. I’m going to be doing a lot of traveling the next three weeks, so, the books will be welcome travel companions.
