I know that Ridley Scott SAYS he put it in the first cut of the film and that the studio said to take it out because it was too arty and confusing, but that just sounds like bullshit to me. Really? 15 seconds of screen time is gonna throw the boat for everyone? I think Scott played the opportunist, knowing that the film was getting a second life on VHS and DVD and decided to put it in there in his later cut to stir the pot.

Everything else outside of those quick shots of Gaff and VO's tell me that Deckard was a weak, emotionally volatile human being who didn't wake up, but simply gave up. Nothing in BR2049 showed me differently either.

I found blade runner really slow and boring last time I watched it. It's a bit "baby's first cyberpunk" (although the matrix probably stole that hollow crown).

I think being too "PC" is very much a thing.
