I heard Ben Verellen's laptop that contained his amp schematics was stolen a few days ago in San Francisco. I wonder if EGC had anything to do with it?

and if it was stolen in sf. it was probably sold on a sidewalk by a bum in front of city hall earlier today. to someone who will probably pawn it. the pawn owners will wipe it. and that's the end of it.

Lol Hovercraft. I had one before it was uncovered how shitty his practices are. There was a little threat inside the amp warning whoever owned the amp not to post gutshots, and stickers over all the Jet City stuff. Also some really shoddy tolexing, he didn't even strip the old faceplate, just slapped some new stuff on there. Thing actually sounded okay and the mods he did to it were fine, wouldn't have minded any of that stuff if he was just open about it and didn't try to lie to everyone/threaten them.

The amp game is worse than the pedal game in my opinion. At least most dudes are like "yeah man this is a silicon fuzz face I added some shit to" amp dudes take like a basic jcm800 and change the slope resistor and add a cathode follower stage and say it's amazing. Or that one idiot that was building SLo100 clones with other people's boards and calling them his own design. It's gross.

I'd never buy a boutique amp for that exact reason. The "upgrades" or whatever the fuck they are offering are not worth the extra thousand bucks they will charge. Give me a Mesa or Gallien Krueger any day over the top of the line boutique amp company. Never going there.

I think there are definitely some worthwhile companies out there. I think those types of amps are often inspired by a few pairings. “Vox meets Marshall with Bax tone stack.” The general consensus is stuff like Science and Verellen seem of upstanding quality.
