Probably so, cheapest I'll go is old rackmount stuff nobody wants or remembers.
I have my ugly vintage delay covered with the 12 bit RDS rack delays.

Offers I made. Prices include shipping.
-Yamaha DDS-20M = $43
-Arion DDS-1 - $68
-DOD FX9 = $50
Judging from past consumer behavior, I suspect these offers will be countered, in which case, I will decline.

Reverb: where the idiots think if it was made in Japan, it aged like wine.

The DOD DFX9 guy declined my offer

One down, two to go. Unreal.
Like I said, I sort of did this last year and it's like everything doubled in price.

And this is why if I bottom-feed these days I look for new Chinese crap!

Scored one of these several years back for just over 13 bucks on ebay. Mine's missing a knob cover

Me too! But I got mine in like 1997 for $30. Store couldn't move it because "everyone that wants a pitch shifter already has one."

Yea, mine was almost $300 when minimum wage was still $3.35.

Ouch. For perspective, that is equivalent to $578.38 today with inflation.

Yep. And the minimum wage jobs then are not today's. If you're late, you were canned. You didn't get "X no calls a quarter" etc.
Guitars weren't any better - the budget stuff was junk, and playable stuff was a baseline of about $300 unless you got a friend of a friend deal.
The Squiers and imports of that era...were firewood waiting to happen. You'd get lucky occasionally with the one good one of a thousand, but stores only had a couple and they sat there forever, etc.
Much different, ugly time.

I'm trying to be a bottom feeder but the world seems to not want this to happen. What do you currently like? I have Amazon Prime but all the cheap stuff actually sounds really good and "warm" sounding. I am after a harsher/colder sound (and quite frankly probably have plenty of gear that does that already but alas, here we are

)
I remember when they fired my shitty colleague at my shitty job (that I quite liked actually) a few years ago. You literally had to try your hardest to get fired from there. I think it took her like 100 lates and every time she came in she would start throwing up per copious alcohol consumption from the night before. She was not a team player.

Looks like those Ibanez Soundtank molds are still perfectly good in a factory somewhere (there are apparently something like 5 different brand versions of these)...

WOW. Three for three

This wasn't meant to happen

It's not like the one guy didn't make a reasonable counter offer. I offered the absolute max I would pay the first time.

I got a bass muff for £44, which is a bit like 22, innit? I was surprised as they never seem to go for less than £50-60.

Opposite way, I think it's more like $58. Nice try!
