What I don't get is if the effects are indeed ready to go, and make the system more fun and musical, why tease w them instead of just making the product the best you possibly can?

Ya I feel like 500 was pretty ambitious to unlock that goal.
Crowd funding works this way sometimes...

Well partly because it is not all software?
folktek wrote:If we sell 250 complete systems, we're going to add an effect control on Channel for the DSP
and add a selector to allow you to change from the reverb to another custom designed effect
as for the extra FX @500...
Sure, I get how this might feel weird for a customer,
but then again, you gotta have
something for stretch goal,
& surely software has a value, too?

If they're DSP effects I assume the stretch goal is "If we reach X dollars, we will develop and program more effects in."

Maybe they will offer it as a paid firmware upgrade if they don't hit the goal? Something you could pester him for if it doesn't make it.

Nope. They're already ready to go:

That's what I'm saying. Why threaten to not make the thing as awesome as possible?
If you're going to develop the effects anyways and you're already putting some DSP shit into the machine why not max 'em out just to do it and make your thing better?

No idea how this kind of thing works but.... can effects be loaded into the DSP with firmware upgrades? I'm wondering if he can sell the other effects afterwards if we don't hit that goal and maybe you can get a bunch of effects? If so that could be a smart move by him and also really cool since you can bypass everything else and just use the effects for whatever input signal you have going in

Looks like they hit 250. I would be surprised to see it hit 500 with the way it's slowed down though.

If you feel threatened by a stretch goal in a crowdfunding for a very cool but definitely not vital musical instrument then you should maybe reconsider some of your life choices ?
Software has value, he does not have to put everything in there, and this is probably code that can also be used for future products.
Insert rant about entitlement and definitely needing more sleep, too.

Hold the fuck up. You giving me life advice because I asked a genuine question?
I didn't say he NEEDED to do shit. Was wondering why it seemed a sound business plan to 'tease' effects but only put 'em into the instrument if a (lofty) goal was hit.
