Yup. So many products are rushed to market and arrive prematurely. Others you can see planned-obsolescence already on the horizon.
I still have yet to buy or own a single hd dvd or bluray. Maybe when they hit garage sales.
I did get into MD late in its life...which still felt early, publically...like 98-2004 as a cassette alternative for field recording in-a-pocket, mobile playlists, sampling and so on. Still have a bunch of the hardware and discs, which can be interesting. It's a lossy, proprietary digital format/encoding whose curves can be exploited as a subtle effect. But nothing worth chasing, paying for if you don't already have it. I have like 2 Sonys and a Sharp. They aren't even compatible with each other. It's obsolete tech for good reason but If it suddenly comes back in vogue I'll be like HIPSTER PLS MD RULZ #1 BUY ONE OF MY RECORDERS FOR $300

Wouldn't be surprised. I half-jokingly remember a time when the idea of vinyl resurgence (as a consumer format, not performance or "for rarities you can't get anywhre else") or cassette was laughable.

I'm still waiting for 8-track tapes....because...the Eagles Greatest Hits need a new issue.

"You got fucked on" was some weird DC insult/slang i picked up in my wilder youth. I always envisioned it meant you played the mattress, but i like Strange Tales interpretation better and will imagine that from now on when i say it. "Your corpse has been/will be ground up into the dirt upon which i have my weird and unruly sex life, asshole."


I think the beauty of slang-insults like this is that the listener understands the meaning is derogatory, and creates their own details in their head. It's like insulting people, but less work than coming up with an exact kind of shit that they are.

I grew up not far from DC and I knew a couple guys who used "fucked down" and "I'll fuck you down", although afaik this usage was not widespread.
