That Sumac record is pretty good but I get the feeling the next one will probably blow it out of the water. Definitely sounds like their first bunch of songs.

actually exactly my thoughts
I mean... it's really grinding and unpleasantly heavy in that dirty, sludgy way. Sort of like some Northless songs, just more in the "torturing someone in a basement" way. In this sense, it seems it actually combines all of the members' styles/characters together, because I do feel a lot of that nasty feel is the Baptist's way of making music, but you can definitely hear Brian Cook and Aaron in there as well. it's a lovely mix, but it does feel more like a demo record of a fresh band, yep

Well technically
I didn't. Good thing you did!
EDIT: Wait, no, that's wrong - I thought I forgot it, but you never forgot it, even though I kinda remembered to chime in when you remembered it the first time...
Jebus, I need more coffee.

Viet Cong - s/t
Probably my number one. Death is such a fantastic song, been anticipating this album for a while since Women is basically my favorite band.
No Joy - More Faithful
SHOEGAZE. So much variation on this but it works really well. Kinda top heavy but still dope.
Self Defense Family - Heaven Is Earth
Hard to describe but sort of post-hardcore/post-rock played from a somewhat challenging angle. Bleak vocals and kraut rock-y instrumentation. Some really accessible tracks as well.
Krill - A Distant Fist Unclenching
Great songs that sound a little bit better live (recorded bass sounds shitty unless you're listening on nice speakers). Genuinely interesting lyrical themes. Classic indie rock but longer and slightly more complex.
blue smiley - ok
Bandcamp release. Follows a pretty basic formula but it's done really well. Sweet guitar sounds and tempo changes.

I wrote a
review of a few albums focused on Desaparecidos'
Payola. I dug it!
Album highlight “Te Amo Camila Vallejo” is an absolute tour de force of pop-punk instrumentation, honouring its eponymous activist heroine with the most heartfelt chorus you’ve heard since Against Me! saluted their anonymous “True Trans Soul Rebel.” It’s a must-hear and it’s one of 2015’s standout tracks thus far. I love this record because it reminds me that selling out is still a thing, contra the modern myth that it isn’t. I don’t think that I have, yet, and Oberst certainly hasn’t.

Same. Still so sad they're gone and Patrick doesn't make music that I want to hear anymore.
Vietcong is pretty great, but I can't get into the vocals at all.

+1, her whole discography is really good.
At the risk of sounding like a noob, two vaguely controversial statements:
a) Chelsea was a gateway artist for me; I didn't get into older industrial folk like Current 93, Sol Invictus, Nurse With Wound, until after I heard similar music by Chelsea and looked into it
b) I think Chelsea makes better music than any of those artists

I haven't heard any of those and don't really miss more of this in my life
