Looks like the Dwarfcraft Complete comes with 4 modules and all the cables and stuff. The Dwarfcraft core comes with 2 modules, 20HP of leftover space and all the cables. I think you get the cables and other stuff no matter what, all the other packages just include modules to help people who are starting out.

I'd be as, if not more, inclined to just get a Euro skiff or something like the Cell or Move and put more modules in that... just put in on the floor behind the Patch Box... Unless you wanted more switches / expression controls, in which case use some of that "expander" space for said modules...

I've been debating buying this, or just buying the 90hp or so cell that Pittsburgh Modular sells and go from there. I feel like I'll benefit more from getting the 90hp one and just having a table top method.

Just be aware, people : you will likely end up wanting a bit more space for a few more modules. Prepare your wallets. And do lots of reading/watch a lot of videos. Modular synths are great but you'll need at least a basic understanding of all the basic building blocks of synthesis to really have an idea of what you want (oscillators, filters, envelopes/slope generators, mixers, switches, etc.). The whole point of a modular is that almost everything can be plugged in / modulate almost anything. Using a modular as a fixed architecture synth/effect is nice but it's missing a whole lot of possibilities.

Also, even in a small system like that you might need "utilities" modules (attenuators, mixers, etc.), depending on what else you have in there.

Strange Tales : the Cell90 is sometimes a bit of a pain in the ass, because it's quite shallow and uses a flying busboard so you have to make sure all your modules are not very deep. I know, I have one . But yeah, if you even think about having more modules, a bigger case is a good idea.

What kind of case would you recommend then? They were just the first cases I saw and they seem pretty convenient, but I also like the 90hp suitcase they have.

I can also back up oscillateur's statement about the Cells. I have a Cell45, and it can be a bit tricky trying to cram all the modules and power ribbon cables into one of those cases. They could stand to be a tiny bit deeper.

If anyone is looking for another option other than the Patch Box to ease your way into Eurorack, I can't suggest enough checking out the Tiptop Happy Ending Kits. It comes with power, and 84hp to work with, for only $150. I have 4 of these in my setup up. I plan on consolidating into one large casein the near future, but this was the easiest, most financially accessible way for me to start my modular. There is also a company (Black Market Modular) that sells cases (Bento Boxes) that allows you to be able to put 1 to 3 of these Happy Ending Kits in. But obviously if you already have a studio rack, or an ATA rack case, you are already set.
