I really like the quality of the repeats on the Malekko 616 but the buffer messed with my dirt that I put after the delay. the el Cap and my boss delays don't really cop that brighter analog sound.
I just want to correct myself by saying the el Cap can totally cop brighter analogish sounds. I was too much of a scardy cat to use the low end contour liberally when I posted this. I have seen the light.

I don't wanna rip the guy off though! I feel like I should offer him AT LEAST 1300 for that

Went to a guitarshop to try the EHX Super Pulsar and wanted to see how it played with a fuzz in front, so I asked for a pedal that would sounds like my Ibanez Standard Fuzz and he gave me a Fulltone Octafuzz.

Weakest fuzz pedal I've ever heard. Tweaking the knobs only made it louder, but didn't change its anemic sound. It was IMO the fuzz equivalent of the white kid on The Simpsons.

Inb4 cool story, bro.

Well, no Juno 106 for me. That thing was broken beyond belief. Half of the voice chips weren't lit up, the buttons themselves took like 3 tries to work, it looked like shit, and it produced literally no sound. Even at $300 that wasn't worth the time and money in my eyes.

I had and loved a rainbow machine a year or two ago but traded it because I couldn't really use it well
I have stuff that can cop similar sounds but I find myself really wanting the specific sound/feature set/etc of the rainbow machine for some reason

Did you ever try one of the Montreal Assembly Ct5 or GB24? I once had a Rainbow Machine that I really didn't like. But the idea of one sort of lingered, even though it was clear the specific pedal did not work for me at all. When Scott came out with those, I bought them and they are everything I ever wanted from the Rainbow.

Had and flipped the gb24, have and love the ct5
It's a combination of the limitations, sound and features that gets me, the magic foot switch is very cool

Amazing, but too complex and big for my purposes.

I played one of the reissues once in a store, it was the 700 if I recall it correctly. It seemed kinda cheap. I did not spot any major flaws or anything but somehow I went away with the feeling of an instrument that justifies its low price by being not so great.

Another thought: Why have I never played a Prunes and Custard? A board in the SYB thread made me watch hiwattbob's demo. That thing sounds pretty rad! I'd love to have it around for the next time in the studio. (Which will be some while off, hahah)

P&C was like the go-to "I need a weird pedal" answer over on TalkbassFX for like 2 years.
