I'm not saying Jobs was a good guy. I don't know a whole lot about him other than that he ran apple and made it into a colossus, and everything since he died has been really underwhelming.

Ladder Filter
Isn't that the same thing with Moog?
I'm not really sure but that was my impression.
i think it is. ladder is just the name of the moog style of filter process, i think. soo @DOS, you may be in luck! (and me toooo, was really hoping the drive would also be a LPF)
Well then.

backwardsvoyager wrote:^ true, true. It's just that not many people have stuff like that on their pedalboards so its kinda against the point of having smaller pedals that more people would want to put on their guitar or bass boards. Still more of a modular thing unless you're happy with the simpler control set.

I think it's great that moog is making these but it's not exactly anything innovative. There are already plenty of good sounding simple delays and ring mods and trems out there.
This is my opinion, too. I trust that they will sell really well, because they're low priced Moogs, but to truly be a Moog device then they have to be unique and incredibly inspiring, even as a stripped-down variety. Otherwise I could just buy a Carbon Copy or a Boss TR-2. From what was posted above they have that little bit of extra control, so I'm down, but if they're nothing special... We'll see how they turn out.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the boost can apparently be used as a volume pedal (w/expression pedal)
I kinda want them all now... and an expressionator.
That would make a pretty kickass little board. Maybe.

w/e. If there's an audio effects company with credibility it's Moog.
Here's hoping the sound lives up to the name.

Haha I love the nerdom conversations we have here. I mean honestly... Those pedals will probably sell like hot cakes and it just makes sense from a business standpoint. Companies can't always be "on the brink" of something great, but that doesn't mean anything regarding their future or longevity.

Even with Apple... People arguing that things are falling only two year after Jobs is dead... If that's the case it still won't be visible for many more years. Companies like that don't operate on a breadboard releasing things a month after testing.

I for one am pretty excited to see what these moogs are all about. And hopefully this means Moog can stay around that much longer.

I'm sure ILF builders all have pedals they're not the most fond of but still produce them because they sell.

The markets aren't so dissimilar.

When we look at general computing, mobile devices, etc., there are some similarities if we remove time from the equation.

Where Apple struggles is not necessarily because its lack of visionary. Things have certainly changed but look at what Apple has become most excellent at: taking a look at the market, seeing some things that could be breakthrough products and doing their absolute best to capitalize on those markets and make damn fine products. You can say what you'd like about Apple's OS X or iOS and their hardware compatriots but the big picture is this: Apple is bringing in money hand over foot with their products despite what some people dislike about them.

Now what Moog is doing is a little different. Almost the opposite, really. They've taken products that are out of many people's budget and tried to make the budget version. They're using their visionary status and their big name to try to sell a product that MAY be inferior.

Similarly Apple released the iPhone 5C. It's literally a repacked iPhone 5. There are some parallels here, for sure.

We might see wild success from these MiniFoogers. But I think on name alone consumers will buy these products, much like Apple products. In a market concerning computing we generally see innovation come from companies that are big because the little guys don't have the time and resources. Therein lies our difference with Pedals. We can look at stuff like Seppuku FX and Montreal Assembly and see lots of cool stuff. We've got guys like Aen doing cool stuff. Hell, even Skully is out there doing some cool shit (not necessarily CREATING new shit but trying to expand on it in his own way).

Sorry for the rant... Tigers just lost to the A's and I've been drinking.....

Good points but I'm still really keen to hear the ring mod - ring mods are so different, and there aren't that many on the market. Depending on the filter, the drive could be interesting as well.
