I don't know how it'll sound in the ACC though...
Club shows are where it's at.

Seen Soundgarden a couple years back in the Molson Ampitheatre and it sounded like ass.

saw them live a couple of days ago

festival show, so no full album, but they did a lot of older songs and a few new

the new ones were awesome live, especially "Smooth Sailing", which is one of my top songs right now :) I appear missing had great atmosphere as well and the projections are awesome

in other news... frikking First It Giveth, Song For The Dead, Sick Sick Sick, some HEAVY SHIT :) but even Burn The Witch was fun live :) and the crowd was pretty awesome (at least I was lol)... Theodore doesn't speed things up, but is a total powerhouse

so goddamn that was some good show :)

Gotta say I like this new album. I also liked Era Vulgarus way more than lullabies...

Scored floor tickets for the Toronto ACC show.
Beyond stoked.

I've listened to the new album a few times now and it just doesn't seem as solid as their other stuff. Quite a bit of it sounds like ordinary softer rock that I'd hear on the radio but with Josh's vocals + lyrics, and My god is the sun sounds like an Eleven song imo (nothing against Eleven, but I'd rather listen to them than hear QOTSA doing that).

With that being said, I do enjoy "Keep your eyes peeled", "I appear missing", "Fair weather friends", and "Smooth sailing" (for the most part anyway. I can get into the issues I have with a few of those if anyone is interested, but I'll leave it at that for now).

I also like the lyrics on this album. Normally I can't be bothered to care much about lyrics (other than a few artists anyway), but I think they did well here.

Also, did anyone else feel like part of the concept on this album was revisiting their older music? I only ask because there's some lyrical references that I think I picked up on (in "Fair weather friends" there's the "drink wine and screw" bit that was in "Walking on the side walks"), and I noticed some drums seeming to be reused too (the drums at the end of "I appear missing" are pretty close to drums on chorus of "First it giveth"). I dunno, maybe I'm just over thinking things. .__.

About the drums...
Dave Grohl played on First it Giveth and I believe on Appear missing... (It sounds like his drumming)
I hope you're not dissin' one of the best current rock drummers there bud. Of course drum beats are reused! You're listening to rock here man. ACDC used the same drum beat for every song they ever made! (Hahaha)

People get too stuck on bands past releases.. I mean, if they released an album that sounded like the S/T there would be people who complained about it sounding the same. either way they get shit on, but they seem to have alot more success with this new record and they deserve it. Incredible band.

With that being said... I don't like the new Soundgarden record really, but I respect the fact that they can't keep releasing the same record and as time passes people in the band listen to new music and get new influences and want to play different stuff or incorporate different stuff.
You can absolutely still tell its QOTSA and its a great progression I feel. It's a solid album front to back, and you don't get many albums that are solid front to back nowadays...

They played a huge amount of old material and the whole new album (except fairweather friends)
Last night. Great live band.

They played In The Fade too... Was so stoked on that.
