thanks man…i've now been riding it a few months and although i thought the frame was a bit small for me to start with, it's since become the most comfortable bike i've had…very stoked with it.
Iunno about many different grips, but Ive tried out Oury grips on a couple of my fellow bikers' bikes and I really dig em. Plus they're cheap and come in lots of colors
I put a new set of tires on my bike, Rubino Pros. They ride soooo smooth, I was surprised at how much easier it was to go faster. Stoked. Except its gonna ssnow again

you guys still have snow? its funny how much impact tires make but no one bothers to think about what tires they should put on their bike…for most people its an after thought!
yeah, Oury's are always cool…i might just do that. I've had them before and they just do the job and look good doing it
I'm a believer now. mhmm. & yeah it's still snowing here a decent amount. I really like snow but this winter has been so damn cold that I can't wait for spring. Wanna bikebikebikebike all night.

It's trash week in Fargo and I found this gem on the side of the road!
Fortunately I work at a bike shop (and this is my first "proper" bike, yikes!) so it was pretty easy/cheap to fix (get it?) this old boy up. It's a 70/80's Sekai Standard? I'm not sure of the model number but it was haggard when I found it. Replaced a few spokes on the back wheel, got a new wheel for the front, pulled a used Fizik saddle out of the discount bin, and just grabbed discarded bar wrap and pedals and threw it all together. My next order of business is a proper wheel set, probably a new crankset, quill-to threadless adapter, flat bar brake levers and new brakes. I'm up in the air about keeping the drops or subbing in Bullhorns. Any reason why I should or shouldn't?

You just found it on the side of the road?? Shit, that's awesome! Is it now set up as a fixed gear or ss? If it's fixed ditch the rear brake, yo.
I have bullhorns and drops that I swap between every couple months. I always end up going back to the bullhorns, though. They're super comfortable, great for climbing, and good for biking around the city and campus. I can really throw the bike around a lot easier, it seems, in regards to steering.
I like using drops for one thing and one thing only: Going fucking fast. Sprinting in the drops feels sooooo good. But, given that I mainly bike to, from, and on campus, I don't sprint so much.
Will do! Yeah it is fixed but I reused the old hub so it is currently without a lock ring. I will be buying a track wheelset from a girl I work with and when I get those put on I will ditch the rear brake and put on a new front. So hyped! And yeah! Someone just threw it out! Apparently there are a ton of old Sekais floating around this town!

that is a "xmas gift" type find...congrats!
i'm going to get some bullhorns for my bike soon too...i've had drops before and never liked them, i had no use for them as i ride in the city the whole time, so dont really get the chance to do much sprints.
Just put on some bullhorns... holy moly. Skids for days, I am totally comfortable on the horns and don't feel like constantly moving to the flats. I was doing one last glory ride with the old drops this morning and, while I do like the drops for the aero position when I'm trying my hardest or going agianst the wind, I don't think I'm going to miss them too much. And If I do they're in a box under my bed. Thanks for the suggestion! I love it!
