Although as a quick rule of thumb, vintage is probably better. :)*

Rosewood fretboards on Les Paul Customs

My Edwards LP Custom has Ebony, why does it seem to be the only one?

this so much

ESPECIALLY the Garcia copyists who think a Tiger-shaped guitar and a Twin head into a MacIntosh 2300 will make them sound just like Jerry. you can do all that stuff on a Strat or a P90 guitar and most any Fender tube amp.

goddamn yes. I don't get wanting to sound exactly like anyone else in the first place but damn...dropping a zillion dollars on copying someone's rig when you barely know how to play the thing is so stupid.

im not sure what kind of satisfaction comes from like
bein in a kiss coverband
but at some point that dude does what your talkin about
takes everything hes learned and tries to do something thats already been done
and these guys go for the full setup, down to the cables and picks and shit
i was told way back when tryin to pick a first guitar
figure out what sound you like best, and start ookin at that type of guitar that your fave player uses(strat,sg,etc)
the copying and whatever a whole nother sickness
it becomes like an obtainable goal
eventually you get what you want"oh man,you sound just like______"
and then what
its just a freakin job,if you fuck up playin your own shit it might turn into a new riff
if you fuck up a cover, the paul stanley doppleganger gives you the evil star eye
not to mention, eventually youd have all the gear you need
youd never have to buy another pedal again
thered be no need for a site like this
seems to take alot of the fun out of it,for me
building this perfect rig has been fun as hell, not knowing what perfect is
even when somethin sounds like complete dogshit its funny
eh,i rambled on again, probly missed the point of what you were talkin about anyway

-Guitars with just a volume knob

-locking tuners. It's the nut! Not the tuners!

- active p'ups on every signature

I've never understood the point in locking tuners. What are they actually supposed to do? Surely a tuner that doesn't move after you set it is just a tuner of acceptable quality?

Pickguard prices. It's insane how much they want for a plate of plastic.

They lock the string in, makes it very easy to change strings.

Ohhhh, right now I get it. That does sound pretty convenient, the high e on my jag is a fucking nightmare to get in, I have to hold it in with one hand while I turn the peg which is super uncomfortable.
