i got the pcm recorder
that esentially turns your ipod/phone/pad
into a fully functioning condenser mic
well it sucks
ive never had an ios device freeze up before
and garageband (unless im missing somethin)
isnt what i thought it was gonna be
so im gonna spend the dough on twisted wave
which supposedly works well with the im2
which is awesome by the way
anyone have any experience with TW
and this soundcloud issue isnt cool
im full of complaints today

I am about to return my iPad, I would just rather have some other gear to do what I want. I'll probably get an iPhone and use a few apps that I liked on there.

Bummer you dudes don't like the iPad. I have yet to see how it will pan out as a full fledged music making device but time will tell. Different strokes for different folks. After all it's just a tool. My hunch is that the iPad needs more fuzz to really take off. Am I right?! Haha. On a side note bought Voice Synth tonight so I can get my Super Black Moth Rainbow vocoder groove on. Will play with it tomorrow.

I mean it was cool, but not $700 cool. That paid for most of a used Elektron Octatrack.

Hardware keeps its value much better than electronics in my opinion. So a good investment if you were to ever decide to sell it.

i got twisted wave
and it rules
if anyones thinking of getting garageband
because they lack experience with this kinda stuff
like i do
spend the extra 5 beans on TW
its so easy
works with everything
and alot of equalizing stuff
but laid out for commonfolk
its exactly what i wanted
one place to record live jams
and single tracks
and throw them together and mess around
just to be clear
ive never used any recording software before
or even a 4 track .....nothin
and im super pleased and comfy with this

I checked out Twisted Wave. Looks pretty cool. Right now I'm happy with Multi Track DAW but looks like it has some features that MTD doesn't like time stretching, etc..

voice synth is an interesting app! noob ? :
How do you connect an external mic to the ipad? assuming that I use a XLR to 1/4" cable ( currently feeding vox to a verbzilla)....

ryan summit wrote:the tacam im2 works rwal good
its really for ipod/phone
but itll fit in the ipad too(duh)
it definately brings the needle way down
couldnt get it in the red with drums
and our normal playing level
which is pretty loud
if your doing your demos with the stock mic
get one
$30 on b&h website
usually $60
i dont own an ipad, or an iphone, but i recently picked up an ipod touch 4th gen. looking at a portable recording setup for when i go visit bands at rehearsals or if i just want to get out of my non airconditioned music room for youtube demos.
looked at interfaces like the iRig that plug in via headphone jack, and others like the tascam imz where you can plug a mic, but i figured...if im gonna be carting a mic...i may as well drag my interface and laptop and go all the way.
so yeah im2...tell me moar? ive watched i think all the clips on youtube...do you have any recordings to share?

it definately pics up alot more
than the stock mic
compared to a high quality condenser
im not sure
maybe johnh18 can chime
cause he owns a zoom
and has heard the im2 in action
for youtube demos id say its perfect
not sure what you mean about visiting band rehearsals
but if you need somethin more than stock ipod mic
but dont need studio quality
its the best
dont bother with the tascam pcm recorder app
just record into voice memos
or whatever you use to eff with audio
if you can get it for $30 like i did
youre fuckin psyched

^ cool. Will pull the trigger soon. RE band rehearsals... I often visit different bands and let them test prototype pedal builds
I may as well record it

I'm sorry but this is fucking amazing. It's exactly what I want. Maybe they will update it to be able to use two at once eventually. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO horny.
