Looks cool! Is that based on an old design, or is it a Nelson original?

Loosely based on an old "astro kit guitar" made for christmas in 1963. But we made it bigger and simplified the outline.

My pickguards were ready yesterday! I needed one to be white so I called a powder coating company that was on my way home. Got it back and got the bass assembled tonight! I'm goad to ge this one done and out the door because, except for the ukuleles, I am finally caught up and can begin new stuff!
Hoping to head to the lumber yard this coming week!
There will be a custom Socialite for one of our own and a custom Coquette for his father-in-law!

It begins!
Went to the lumber yard yesterday and picked up a lot of wood!

Tonight I started chopping some of it into usable lengths. Here are the body halves for:
6- new longscale basses
6- delilettante XII strings (yeah I'm making 6 of them. Shrug)
1- special order lefty socialite
1- special order coquette
1- special order lefty coquette.

Lots more wood to chop up but I think sleep sounds pretty good at the moment!

Days after I started chopping up the wood pictured above, the fancy new saw blade I bought self destructed. Wouldn't you know that they are now backordered so I haven't been able to do anything else for the past couple weeks!
Also that cool green coquette bass is back in the shop. After patiently waiting for her special order bass, fedex damaged the finish in shipping. I am working on fixing the damage and waiting for fedex to pay out on my damage claim.
Also I got a little more work done on a certain socialite that Colin has been patiently waiting for! I put some strings on to let it sit for a day to see if anything funky happens with the neck repair. I figure it would be good to test it before going to the trouble of wiring it all up first. So far so good!

Well I won't complain too much about fedex. In all the years I have been packing and shipping guitars, this is the first time something I have packed has been damaged. As long as they compensate for the damage then we're good to go! If they deny the claim THEN I will complain loudly. Haha!

Update time! Fedex ended up paying for the damage! I fixed the finish damage and sent the green bass back home yesterday!
Colin's guitar just got finished right now. I will get it shipped next week!

Well there is a bit of progress to update everyone on.
The neck pieces for the new bass model are coming along nicely! They are rough dimensioned, cut for truss rods, and have headstock veneers glued on!
I have 3 maple necks and 3 very light mahogany necks! They should make some wonderfully resonant basses!
Today I put the bass necks aside to get caught up on the necks for the 6 12-string electrics, 2 special order electrics for one of our own here on ILF, and a special order lefty Coquette!
Some nice hard maple in this batch!
Finally here are a couple stacks of body halves ready to be trimmed to final shape and then glued to neck sections!
On the left are the body pieces for the 6 basses, on the right are the rest. (In case it wasn't obvious)
In the neck couple days I will try to get the rest of the necks caught up to the point of the bass necks so I can get the necks cut and tapered, getthe headstocks trimmed, and get fingerboards ready to roll!

Nice. Looks like you're keepin' busy, Bobby.
Any progress on lap steel designs?
