Yeah, the exact position of the Faye would be subject to experiment. I could see it do great stuff anywhere in the chain.

in short, YESSSS. in long (is that a phrase?) the tape loop gets mangled a lot faster than i thought it would, but i think i need to get more familiar w/ all the controls and how they shape the sound.

I've really been enjoying this with my synth lately:

Meathead Deluxe > Moog Ring Mod > Moog Delay > Mountain Range

Sounds even better with guitar! I could play the hell out of that set-up for a good long while.

One of the secondary functions can control that, I think it's the secondary function on the repeats knob. The further right it is, the longer it takes to get mangled, if I remember correctly.
