Yep. They usually have a low B though.. hight Cs aren't used as much [although Kay made a model with one..] actually five string DBs with low Bs have been around longer then bass guitars...

Love the high C on a 5

I have wanted one ever since I first saw one at TB. The bassist for Bomb the Music Industry! plays one, and he and I chatted about it. Best bass he's ever played, quoth him.

I've got a chance to trade my MM Sterling 4Hp for it + a little cash, but I'm not sure. Looks like I'll trade it for a Stingray and a bit of cash, and then sell the Ray to buy pedulllz

That's the right of it alright. I played one for a couple months this summer. No complaints with it at all. I like a Jazz style neck on a four string so it felt good to me. Unless you need a jazz width neck, or just are in love with the blocks, I'd just assume go to a GC and buy the best playing/sounding MIA Fender P on the wall for similar money.

And that brings up something I've long wondered about...why buy a knockoff if you can get the real thing for the same'ish price? (Specifically talking about a p-bass here) OK, there is the build quality thing (legitimate reason, given some of the MIA's I've seen), but some careful hand's-on shopping is a workaround for that.

Maybe it's just me, but if I wanted a p-bass I'd go buy a for-real P-bass, not someone's interpretation of one.

There are $10,000 Jazz bass clones that don't seem to really have any improvements :?:

There are some awesome P and J influenced basses that have IMO made improvements (looking at you Dingwall).

I'm definitely no slave to Fender, but in the MIA Pbass price range I'd find it hard to buy another company's bass as long as I had a chance to find a great MIA one. The big reason to by something else is mainly if you need specific options, like Jazz width neck or specific finish. I definitely don't mind paying for quality if I think a bass is extremely nice (says the guy who just bought a high end 5 string Pbass), but for the most part I think its hard to beat the most recent runs of MIA Fender P's. I've also noticed over the last couple of years that they are making a lot less boat anchors including some very nice lightweight ones.
