ive heard some mk2 demos with a buffer and it sounds cool. imo the buffer thing is just for people who do the volume knob thing.
Why would you run a vintage fuzz at more than 9 volts tho? wouldnt that just reduce the fuzzness

AFAIK the ramble twin bender/katzenkonig/skreddy approach to making low impedance fuzz circuits work better in buffered loops etc is to use a passive resistor/attenuator at the input (either a pot or on a switch), which kinda works but kinda doesn't. The MK2s I've used sound a lot different if I put them after my tuner or whatever than before - not necessarily "bad" or anything but definitely different. What's interesting to me about boss offering true bypass and buffered in a vintage fuzz circuit is that I imagine they've put the massive corporate brain towards making it sound more a like than not in both settings. I don't really care about riding the volume knob or anything as I am a chunderheaded guitar player at best, but I am a simple man who likes his TU2 at the front of the chain.

as time has gone on, amp builders seem to have gotten incrementally better at making an attenuated tube amp sound more like a cranked amp, just quieter
still room for improvement there, and also in buffer-proofing fuzz inputs
re: the Boss, maybe they can push the increment...we'll see...we'll also see their idea of how a Tone Bender MKII circuit sounds.
I wonder if this a way to enhance volume knob cleanup, which ain't usually much of a thing with TB MKIIsqersty wrote:ive heard some mk2 demos with a buffer and it sounds cool. imo the buffer thing is just for people who do the volume knob thing.

I'm interested in hearing what it sounds like haha. I assume it's cool if they put it in the pedal.qersty wrote:ive heard some mk2 demos with a buffer and it sounds cool. imo the buffer thing is just for people who do the volume knob thing.

I mean, I wish they did the FZ-2 as well (and maybe they still might?), but I'm pretty hyped to try out the BossBender when I get the chance.

Did Boss create the original Bender in the 60's? No, so what the fuck is this?

It's a collaboration with the original owners of the Tone Bender, Macari's, who had the sister company Sola Sound. KORG used to own the Tone Bender rights in the '90s, so they also had had the chance to build own models of the Tone Bender.

I'm only interested if it drops the price of a vintage FZ-2 tbqh. I can't tell if it will. I have never bought a new Boss pedal, even though I have many Boss pedalsEivind August wrote:I mean, I wish they did the FZ-2 as well (and maybe they still might?),

looks cute but too reliant on using their other synth things. All of which I think are lovely but not enough connectivity to other gear for me.
