That's always been my main point. I just don't get how in the world guys can use these huge cabs and 600 watt amps in these small bars and clubs. My gigging rig right now is a 100 watt amp and a 4x10. And that is FUCKING LOUD.

i started acting stupid about having an adapter (i keep one in my gig bag) on hand to use my Rusty as a DI. i haaaaaaaate being DI'd. even if it's only one cab, fucking mic it you lazy bastards. i'm gonna steal Chiefy's thing and bring along a Beta52 so if they hand me a mic cable to DI with i can just be all, "thanks!" and plug it into the Beta52. BOOYAH.

fuck hauling more gear than i need to. yeah, it looks cool, but doesn't matter the level i'm at. if i had peeps? GEAR CARRYING peeps? mebbe.

This. Except I'm running 100 watts (50 at smaller shows) into a 2x15 which I think is a bit louder and bigger (but lighter!) than my 4x10.

It's because people don't understand that differently sized rooms call for differently sized amps.

A 2x15 and a similarly made 4x10 should be in the same ballpark volume-wise, as they are pretty close in speaker area, but yes most 2x15s will be a good deal lighter.

That's why I love the Glockenklang stuff. Amazing sound. And it sounds the same at 1 as it does at 10. No straining. Doesn't have to be cranked to get a good tone. Consistently awesome.

What I don't understand is why ANYONE would want to use an amp that totally colors their sound as a backline....and then DI to the FoH. That means what you're hearing on stage with the amp color is NOT what the people are hearing sans amp color. What you're hearing at practice is NOT what you sound like live. Stupid. That's why fEARful makes so much sense to me. I know it still has some color, nothing is colorless, but my mentality is to get the cab as colorless as possible. Then I can be DIed all day long and what I'm hearing from my backline is what the peeps are hearing out front. What I sound like at practice is what I sound like live. Even in the living room, what I sound like through the headphone jack is what I sound like on stage. Consistency. Yes.

I'm in total control of my sound......save for the ratarded reject guitar player or wannabe DJ that ends up being our sound guy.....
