With two kids and one on the way, a full time job, and a mortgage I don't have the free time to play in 2 bands. I really don't have the time for the one I'm in now but I do it anyway. It's more about whether or not to stay with a band whose mentality is to get big and make lots of money at any cost, which currently is looking like going to a fully electronic ableton setup and possibly eliminating my position in the band, albeit not directly but it would make me redundant. Or leaving, getting a better job, spending more time with my family and then joining a band whose music I truly appreciate and would enjoy playing live (note that also doesn't think that a half stack is only necessary for playing in a fucking arena and that I should be rocking a 20watt 1x12 as thats all a sound guy needs). Note: its not that I don't like the music my current band is putting out its that there might come a decision in the next few months where we would need to decide to keep trying at our electro / post rock sound which the labels seem kinda MEH about but I love, or going towards our completely electro-pop sound (that originally started as a in-band side project) which the labels seem to like more but makes 5 members in the band unnecessary and I'm on the bottom of the totem pole.

Does it leave you in the dust as YesMen leave their own ideals and morals behind in this money driven catastrophe of an existence? Should I continue to play boring bass lines in a band that's bound to turn fully electro-pop and make lots of money while leaving its roots and the music style it built its fan base on behind, or should I focus on my career and growing family while playing in a heavier band that's sure to never get big but guaranteed to make me happy?

Ugh, I slept through my alarm which was also an hour ahead so I woke up (possibly still a bit drunk) thinking it was 10:30 when I'm supposed to be at my internship at 10. Turns out it was only 9:30. That means ill still be late. Especially after this particularly long, uncomfortable poo.

Today is not off to a great start.

No worries dude--I've been in a similar situation before, and I'm really not upset with choosing to make music I like rather than making music a job.

So, I got this worthless guy fired here at the new gig, which is good. But the problem is, he doesn't leave until Friday, and he keeps trying to fuck around with my project until then. This is really frustrating.
