Well I guess its time to spill the beans.... I wanted to wait until I actually got to play through the amp and make sure it's what I really wanted. Which happened earlier tonight...

So without further ado....

I'm getting a second Dunwich!!!! :yay:

Originally called the infamous "Weed Wizard" (told you you'd hate everything about it DOS!) we now affectionately refer to it as the NMV or non-master volume Wizard. A local friend of mine (Scott from The Osedax) is currently in possession of it but finds himself favoring his Matamp GT120 and Sunn Model T. I was talking to Nick about amps when I remembered he had tried to sell it previously, so I hit him up and it was still for sale and only 10 minutes from my house. So he brought it over tonight and I love it, its actually a pretty stark contrast to the Naki. We jammed out using the Quantum Mystic and my Skyhammer pre with our flying V's and my Dearmond 7 string. The NMV Wizard loved the quantum mystic as you can hear below in a short clip but sounded too scooped with the skyhammer, while the Naki loved the warmth of the skyhammer but wasn't too fond of the Quantum Mystic. All in all I fell in love and its pretty much exactly what I wanted short of maybe a shift control like the naki, but I really didnt find myself missing it. So as soon as my Hiwatt sells and I scrape up the last hundo or two it will be coming to its new home and staying in the family.

Here's a short little clip of Scott playing his stock Epi V tuned drop G through the quantum mystic into the NMV wizard.

P.S. it still has the green LED's. :yay:

Do any of y'all have experience with the on-board distortion on the Sunn Concert Bass? If so, what's it like?
I picked up a silverface recently but I can't turn it on without a footswitch. Gotta build one of those.

Matt, NO, just no, hold out man. hell if you want to pay for shipping back and forth I'd still be down to try to fix it. or better yet TJ is closer and I'm sure he could hook that thing up. Or get more money and get more cool shit.

Fuck yeah. that lives up to the hype bigtime. I wish I could afford one of Nicks amps and you have fucking two now. Well played sir.

you can rig the SCB to have the distortion on, and its not as good sounding as say a blubeard out front, or a pharaoh, or whatev. I didn't think it was all that.
those amps take pedals well though and are a good way to go.

The show was excellent. My first time seeing all the bands except thou. Second time for them. They had the bands split between playing in the sanctuary and the basement to facilitate smooth change overs. Sound in the basement was less than ideal while the sound in the sanctuary was, dare I say, a holy experience. Bwahaha. Pallbearer absolutely slayed. A guy shotgunned beer through their set and the area where you kneel before the stage made a comfy seat for the some people. There was an after show party/show at a local bar that featured several of the great local bands. Pallbearer came and showed support which I thought was a great touch. Overall I spent too much money, drank too much beer and am awake too damn early. But had a great time.

I forgot to add. Not a lot of good music comes through the central Kentucky region but there is definitely a slew of people who love this genre. With that said, if you're a touring band, give it a consider. We could use some more doom, sludge, drone, and ambient bands here.

Badass!!! I saw it awhile back and was tempted to hit it, but I'm not too sure about not having a master volume. I like to be able to add some grit to it without turning up so loud. That short clip sounds pretty rad.

Master Volume is yucky.

Also holy shit Osedax! I know those dudes (briefly, and through the internet). Badass gear, badass band. Discerning doom-brahs and sahs should definitely give them a listen.

The fact that it is nMV is probably why it was tougher to move

Websites looking good nick!!

Conky I had the same kinda concern but I was more concerned about it staying clean while being loud enough and right at the sweet spot it was a perfect balance of clean and grit. You really gotta crank it to get the grit, and at the point is was beyond shaking my house through my 4x12 and 2x15.

DOS - their friends of mine, played many a show with them! They definitely have some bad ass gear! Scott's using a gt120 through 2 orange 4x12's (he sold his two Matamp green cabs cause he liked the oranges better) and a model T through 2 acc 2x15's while Mikey's using a couple different heads through two 6x12s and two 4x15s for bass. Yeah if you guys haven't heard them definitely check them out! Also agreed MV is :barf:

Nice Nick, thats kind of like a montage of dunwich's greatest hits. Are you going to add more info about what you do? It looks beautiful and shows off you visual style but that's only half the story You should show some more gut shots too, your wiring is so good, I think I've said a few times that I would hang a photo of some of your gutshots on the wall framed as fine art.

Last nights show was fun, altered seas was a killer band and we hope to get to play another show with them soon. I felt bad man, the band after us was kind meh. the guitarist/singer looked like a huge jack white fan and most of the folks who came out for us left during their set and didn't get to check out the next band they wold have liked. Kinda ticked me off, those guys still were not playing after we had all our gear out of the building and loaded tetris style in the van (not a simple feat!) took nearly an hour to set up and play and then didn't make it seem worth the wait.

I had asked Darren for advice before our first show and he said something to the affect of" set up and tear down fast" GOOD ADVICE, as we play more and more shows I find myself really paying attention to that and noting the bands that kinda screw over the acts that follow them and not wanting to do more shows with those guys.

I'm more a fan of amp dirt, I guess that is why I like a master volume. That being said, I haven't really had an amp that didn't have a master volume. I can't recall right off ever playing through an amp that didn't have one besides one of those 5 watt Epi's. It was pretty sweet.
