What thread count should I be shooting for if I'm starting up a doom rug? I already have a throw pushing 22 square inches but I don't know if it'll be enough coverage in a band setting.
Is it okay to settle for Chinese adolescent build quality or should I shell it out for pure Indian thread-to-thread construction?
Also, post your rugs of doom.

The more ancient the rug, the more doom. Country of origin matters not. Thread density might, however.

Well, carpets are rated in terms of density and face weight, so they might in fact be more doom. :idk:

I regret not jumping on those when they were still available. I keep checking back at that page periodically.

Hmmm a Dirge matrix mixer would be pretty badass actually
Kind of tempted to see if skullservant would do a custom one

A 4x4 is probably more than I need
I mostly want to mix my Drone Commander and my drone board, which has evolved into an instrument of its own.
If I had a 4x4 though the other two channels would be dedicated to feedback loops.

What exactly is the benefit of a matrix mixer? What can it do that a "nornal" mixer can't do?

It's probably easiest to look at a schematic. Here's a 3x3:

Essentially you can mix any of the inputs to any of the outputs, which is awesome for feedback loops, noise, and DESTRUCTION as ryan pointed out
I'm sure you could do something kind of similar with a normal mixer but I honestly don't want or need 90% of the stuff on a normal mixer (like the EQs, mic inputs, etc.)

I broke down and bought a Boss GT-001.

By ILF standards, about as non-sexy as all get out.

But contains Tera Echo and the other oddball stuff of recent years, plus slicer, plus envelope controlled signal routing to two chains.

And no surcharge for footswitches cripples can't use.

Yep. I am happy and their dumb 4-pay plan made it feasible on my fixed income without praying.

Just means I won't be ordering pizza for a couple months.

Oh, noes.

My rig is sounding exactly how I want it. And I like that.

Now I just need duplicates.

I'm very close to where I want - mostly need more reverb (from the guy with 4 rackmount ones and a pedal, plus multis) and a modified Test Pattern I'm having done.

24 tracks at a time of simultaneous audio recording is glorious, glorious I say.

All my stuff sounds like it should and I can tweak the mix minutely later.
