Haha, Achtane is crushing my DIY drive too with a harsh dose of reality. Maybe I'll continue letting other people with the skillz/know-how build and repair my shit cuz my patience is worn thin now days.
As for the Echo Base, I hear good things. Mods would make it that much better.

The idea of DIY pedals is appealing but every time I get all the parts assembled I immediately regret starting. The soldering practice and electronics knowledge have really come in handy but goddamn every time I try to build one it's an exercise in frustration. No part of it is relaxing. If something even half-works it's a miracle. If a board is mostly populated but doesn't work in the end after a couple of repair attempts, I'm done with it...just doesn't ever seem to get any easier.
And fuck desoldering anything, fuck third hands that just fall over or slide around, fuck solder fumes for going straight for my face no matter the position, even if I'm holding the iron out at arm's length, fuck my soldering iron for randomly cutting out all the time. Fuck pencil tips.
AND FUCK DESOLDERING BRAID HOLY SHIT YOU ARE SO USELESS ANYONE WHO SAYS THEY'VE SUCCEEDED AT DOING ANYTHING WITH IT BESIDES ROASTING THEIR FINGERTIPS IS A LIAR
At least liquid flux is hella useful.
Oh, speaking of solder fumes, it always makes me hungry.
Uhh...anyway...the Echo Base is probably cool...

Wait.. If you didn't put all the parts on the board then it's probably not going to work but it could probably easily be fixed by just adding the parts. What did you leave out?
I've got a whole bunch of failed attempts.. It happens. Bummer though the Echo Base is really expensive to make. I'm sure you can get it working though. Mine didn't work for a long time it's always a really simple fix you just have to find what's wrong

Ahh so it's really doing like different "multihead" settings. I was thinking they paired up the PT2399s for like nice clean extended delay times.
I've got the El Cap and AD-9 Pro that both have sweet multihead settings so I'm pretty set as far as that goes. Looks really cool though you should build it and do yo thang with it.

I have no idea why I wrote "mostly populated"
It's fully populated, just currently not functioning.
Sorry dudes, don't get dismayed because of what I wrote

It's best to keep at it. I really have learned a lot even though it's been torture. Crafts and anything involving really tiny parts have always messed me up. Plus if I know there are mods available for a pedlol, I go all out and plan to do them all at once. DO THE VANILLA PEDAL FIRST.

Double check your IC and transistor orientation first. You used sockets right?

Yeah I was thinking about the transistors, it'll be what I check out first.
Learned that lesson about using sockets a while ago. Trying to get an IC out is a nightmare.

Also I really want an Elements now.
A The Elements.

Lol yeah I wouldn't even attempt to remove an IC that's not socketed. I'd just say fuck it I doubt any circuit could be worth that PITA.
Definitely check all ICs and transistors. It could be a really simple fix. I've done that a few times

The Elements is super kickass and would sound great with an Echo Base.

Oh yeah..
In: Buzzaround components. OC75 and two OC76. Mallory caps. Fuck yeah. Just waiting for the tagboard to come in.

Is it that thing I sent you that made you have The Elements on the mind? :3

You, sir, are welcome. All the guitar is either FZ-2 or Polygrace.

Yeah, I've been kinda interested in the FZ-2 as well but I dunno man...not sure I can handle it. I don't even have a beard. I'm no wizard.

skullservant wrote:I want to do an echo base with a shit ton of mods. Officer you need to look in to the new 1776 Delay that just came out. It's got three different 'tape' modes to it, Binson, RE-201 Space Echo, and Echoplex using PT2399's and a dual delay setup to get flutters and shit
Dudes, Echobase rules! I got two, my newest one has the dub madness mod on a momentary switch. Really awesome. The feedback control didn't work on my first one but I'm gutting that to fix that part and put an fx loop in for the repeats. One the new one, the feedback control is pretty awesome. I also did most of the mods on the PDF doc. You guys should definitely put the dub madness mod on a momentary and definitely do the LFO shape/wave mod. Worth trying out all the mods to see what suits you. I can't wait to have my other one modded with an effects loop. I also have the multiplex pcb in the mail. Won't need anymore delay.
