I'm thinking seriously about covering stuff like Type O Negative, Stabbing Westward and a few other very influential bands in my life. Mainly Type O though. Kind of a tribute to Peter. His music moved me in a way no others have. Gotta get my chops about me though. Need to practice playing and singing a lot more. Anyone have any tips on this? Playing bass and singing seems almost impossible to me sometimes. I've tried, and tried, but always fuck up. lol

Singing on the beat is usually ok. At first you focus on singing in time, or singing in tune, then as it gets more comfortable you focus on singing in time and in tune. Then you try and impart some sense of urgency/emotion into the singing and playing. Singing stuff that is more fluid is tougher. Dave Mustaine, despite the debatable quality of his voice, is really good at this. Part of it is muscle memory, so that you can let your guitaring sort itself out and concentrate on the vox, and part of it is sitting down and nutting out what vocal parts fall on the beat (so that you can sync to them) and what falls off the beat. The stuff I find most difficult is singing stuff that is really physical, and playing well at the same time. The whole Phil Anselmo drunken shout thing just about ruins my ability to play anything. hah!

At least, that's how it works for me. Then again, these days I'm mostly playing stuff I write, and I write stuff that I can play/sing without too much bother

A big part of getting it down is knowing both what you are singing and playing well, also REALLY paying attention to where words and notes intersect, really start listening to those songs that way too, the word/note/rest intersections... in the end it sould be like doing one thing :thumb:

Um..... because it doesn't?

I don't think "rocks" is the word you're looking for. Baritone ukes do many things. Rocking is not among them.

My girl picked it up for me Hawaii and I say it rocks when I am strumming minor chords full force.

excane wrote:Nice. Where'd you pick one up? the bay?

Yeah, but through Guitareffectspedals.com's ebay store, I think I got the last one though... I've actually been trying to get one on and off for a year.. when I would think about it I could never find one intill now..

It's very RAT-like and not.. but it's the sound I wanted... playing a bass through a guitar amp, also, no real low loss though in any setting :thumb:

Well, if your girl picked it up in Hawaii, of course it rocks.

Behndy, regardless of whatever funk is going down on the local scale, your Kit Kats will always be fucking delicious.
So delicious that nobody I offer them to seems to be able to handle the divine flavor, dismissing them as "gross" just like the filthy proletariat is prone to doing.
I ate them all in 1.5 days. So good...stomach so painful...
