is it a real pain in the ass to set up? I was looking at one when the Jag Bass was coming together, but decided against it.
Super sweet bass, man. I love the simplicity and the sound of P basses...Js are cool but I still always wish there was a P pickup in there.
To drop from B to A. Not really, its just adjusting a set screw and flipping it back and forth while checking the tuner till you have it dialed in. Took me maybe 2-3 minutes.
Thanks man! I'm definitely a P bass guy, J's never had the low end i was looking for, and i never used the bridge pickup. I like having just 1 p/u, a volume, and a tone knob rolled to zero. Nothing but the low's for me.

?99? MIM P
SD Quarter Pounders
Badass II bridge
Hipshot D tuner
.65-.150 strings in BEAD (or AEAD) tuning.
Between this and the Tele I had a pretty good haul this weekend.
I'd hit it.

I don't understand why some people don't like black with rosewood fingerboards. I get we all like different things but personally, I love it.

It's also got a lot od the mods that I'd love to try too. If I ever stop buying pedals...

The black pickgaurd makes it.
Personally I like the the feel of maple over rosewood, especially on MIM Fenders but I take no issue in how it looks.

dang! nice pick up. I wish they made Badass II bridges left handed... I almost picked up a 78' lefty p bass not too long ago but couldn't find a sweet bridge replacement in lefty.
Also,...are Badass bridges Right Hand/Left Hand Specific? Seems like they shouldn't be to me but I don't know much about them. Can't you just set it up the saddles up in a left handed conflaberation?

Hipshot D-Tuners are key. My band plays in D, but I keep my bass in standard. I use the D-Tuner and just play in Drop D.
Here's mine peeking out:

I prefer maple fretboards over rosewood on anything, its all about playability and feel. I like the slick feeling of the maple while the rosewood to me seems sticky. But different strokes for different folks. Thanks on the compliment, and after I do some more testing I'll report back on if i like the mods or not, my green bass with maple fretboard has the same body, pickups, and electronics but a stock bridge and tuners. So I can A/B them to see if they truly provide much of a difference, the only unaccounted variable is the black one has thicker strings (.150 low B compared to the Greens .125). As of right now I'm iffy on the badass bridge, there's not as much saddle height adjust as I like (as far as lowering them), but the hipshot tuner is much smoother and holds the low string in tune better from what i can tell.

My ATK 305 (which I don't really use anymore) is black with a maple fretboard. I like them too, but for some it seems as if that's all they like. Maybe because I like rosewood I just remember the comments more.
Love to hear your thoughts on the mods so that's cool.

Fretboard is wenge and so is the pickguard, though not of the same vintage. Face of headstock is I dunno what, maybe rosewood? If I had it custom made I think I would have picked a different top wood visually speaking, but I can't say it's doing anything wrong tonally, if such things really make a difference. I don't play it as much as I'd like since I've been immersed in guitar and drums lately, but here are some old recordings of it in action:

I've played death metal and funk with it (NOT at the same time) and it works in both contexts.

lelelel. New stupidly huge string set day (.130)
30" scale, tuned to B standard below E in the bass register. CAN YOU HANDLE IT, SUCKA?!
The other's tuned to B in octaves.
