I fucking loved III! Things turned around and I only got round to listening to Mingus and Deerhoof. The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is incredible! And The Magic is the best Deerhoof record in years. Review of IV will emerge tomorrow.

Picked up some stuff that I should have already owned.

1st listen verdict: good. I enjoyed the jazzier songs more than the more chilled out ones with vocals, but it's all good music, I think that's just the mood I was in at the time. I think ill be keeping this one on rotation in the car for a while.

For sure, I just listened to it in full for the first time today. I will say that the songs with Leiland on sax off III were the songs I didn't like as much, so I think I gotta give it some time for his heavier presence to sink in for me. & it's not necessarily because I think those songs are bad, I just really liked the way the core trio worked with each other on III.

I definitely think Lavender is my initial favorite.
That bass synth is so fucking dirty.

Saw this band Nouveau last night and picked up their cassette. Super good live, and all the dudes are really nice. They said they were in the midst of writing an LP; stoked to hear what they come up with.

On the other hand, I still haven't listened to my copy of The Body's 2002 demo because I want to keep that shit sealed (even though I own a tape deck or three), so I guess I'm in no position to talk.

I almost chickened out myself, but it stopped raining at 8 so I just went for it and hoped for the best, luckily it didn't pick back up again. Druse is from my home town and I always try to see them when they come through, bonus of learning about a rad new band

I scored a Harold and Maude LaserDisc for 97 cents. Now I just need to get a LaserDisc player. Or maybe just play the DVD copy that I have.
