Jfrey, I'd sell whatever you can bear to part with, so you have cash and aren't weighed down by extra stuff, but save your very favorite gear so you don't feel so bad about it. I'd sell guitars in a pinch, but not my synthesizer, electronic world for every boy and every girl.

Foomanfat, you should charge interest.

They should have included that video in the Pioneer 10 mission. I had to imagine aliens seeing it and, well, they would know everything they had to know about human life afterwards.

http://everyonewasdinosaurs.blogspot.cz ... roper.htmlit's all in here
except for the fact i didn't mention... the Faux Tape Echo was absolutely useless and i ended up improvising the delays with my Digitech PDS 20/20
some of you might know that it SUCKS when you need to find a proper time for your delay... especially when you don't use it as a delay so you have no idea what the settings should be

You're moving overseas. It's not like you're gonna take your stuff with you. If you don't sell the stuff, what're you gonna do with it?
I don't know. The thing is I'll be in all likelihood moving back here in 1-2 years, so... I don't know.
1-2 years is a long time. If you don't have any great emotional attachments to the instruments, sell 'em. You can always (hopefully) find something similar later. It'd be impractical to take more than one instrument with you, especially since you don't know what you're going to do with the ones you can't bring with you.
I would sell everything I couldn't buy another time. It's easy to replace most pedals and modern amps. Unless you have vintage gear you shouldn't be too worried about replacing it. 1-2 years is quite a while and unless you want to get a storage unit (and pay for it) it'll be easier to just get rid of everything. You never really know what people will do if you try to leave it with a friend or family. I've heard some horror stories of people who lost gear because they left it at someone's place for a long time.
One positive: rebuilding your rig is pretty fun.

I'm definitely getting rid of all my cheaper pedals, probably one of my amps too. I could use the money from selling my guitars, but almost all of them are either unique builds or have custom paint jobs. They aren't easily replaceable. I'm struggling with it. I'm bringing my 8 string with me, and my friend Cate is going to be hanging onto my semi hollow electric while I'm gone. That leaves like 9 to figure out what to do with.
