that reminds me, ive never run more than 18 watts thru my 2x15. I gotta hook up one of the big boys to it tomorrow and see what happens. 18 watts maxed was a floor shaking tonegasm though so im hopin 100 will be pretty gutfucking.

fallen wrote:All this custom guitar talk is very interesting... It's fun to make a list of features and then see if it can be made into something somehow.

Like semi hollow, no middle pickup, hot P90 neck pickup, vintage bridge humbucker, wrap-around bridge, locking tuners, one volume, 3 way switch. I saw a custom strat online with a solid rosewood neck and that looked awesome.

Custom Tele maybe? I've seen a few with dual humbuckers and tuneomatics.

Ps. For the guy who wants to pair down to only 2 guitars? Screw that. Get a guitar stand that holds 7 guitars and keep them all. Wire up some GFS pickups in the Epiphones and you're set.
mate...if i could fit 7 guitars in my tiny london flat which is also home to a wife and a 9 month old baby...i would!...but things being the way they are, 2 guitars i going to be more than enough.

I think i will sell both and try and buy a vintage ibanez (or similar) guitar and put some of remaining money for upgrades etc.

Morning, gentlemen. Haven't had a chance to doom room as much as I'd like since the kids started back at work.

Anybody played a Marshall Class 5? I am on one of my 'I'm done with amp dirt' kicks and was wondering how well a Class 5 and pedals would work for me.

I have played one. The combo version...it sounded nice. At the time i played that and the Blackstar HT5 head...and i ended up buying the HT5, mainly because of the drive channel, but from memory the cleans on the Marshall were much nicer.

Ah dude, I just get to that stage where I go, "yeah, change is good!" and then as soon as the razor hits my face its instant regret.
Might make my wife happy, though. Which may in turn make me happy.

No problem at all man, that's the beauty of this forum. The amount of people willing to help their fellow brother who worships at the sonic altar is astounding. Maybe one day when I get around to debugging my Earth, you may be able to return the favor. Speaking of which, were your Earth's a spaghetti mess of point to point? I've worked on amps and pedals for awhile, but the mess inside my Earth is too confusing and intimidating, and ultimitally makes me want to scrap the guts and throw in a fresh circuit on a tag/turret board.

Earth amps are known for having some quality control issues. The black one I have is a mess inside and the blue one approaches Dunwich level of neatness and pretty wiring. That said I prefer the sound of the black one as it is a bit darker and just seems to be cleaner. The two amps have an identical circuit, I think it's just which employee wired it up and put it together. It should be a simple and easy circuit to work on. What I did was to order all new caps, replace them and neaten things up a bit while I was at it.

My black one sounds like your black one. Complete mess inside. I was thinking about doing the same, but then I couldn't find the value for the cap can and came to a hault.

Yeah I hear you. You've probably thought of this already but if you have wall space those guitar wall hangers really save space and put the guitars out of reach of young kids. I knew a guitarist/guitar repair guy who made a bunch of those. Had a wall in his appartment covered in guitars and acoustics and banjos and stuff.
