all right... for example - HOW STUPID is that you get stuck on almost EVERYTHING whilst riding a truck?! We've had some semi-decent physics for cars since... well GTA Vice City somes to my mind... it's 2011 now, come on

and since you need to move fast and driving is the obvious way to do it, it's not something you can really dodge

AI of the infected (one kind of enemies) is also very mysterious to me - is there any? There are quests (like the one with the mechanic) where you need to chase them all around to finish... they're supposed to attack, not get stuck everywhere and run away

respawning after death is so hilarious... when i was at the hotel trying to get the van, i died and then the game respawned me right next to the objective that had been 100m away before... it's really random and sometimes stupid

allright, it might not be bazillion things... that's all i could remember now... i'd recommend it especially if you have people to play with :)

edit: the thing that it's one big cliché, not really well voiced-over etc doesn't bug me at all

Oh yeah, the driving sucks. It's just a bare-bones way of getting around. You hit anything and you stop. The gates to different safe areas also open way too slowly so I always run into them. Running two cars into each other in multiplayer is hilarious, but that's because the physics are all fucked up.

I was also seriously disappointed to find out that you can't destroy sand castles by kicking them. Way to blow an opportunity there, guys . Beach balls also only fly like 2 feet. The skybox has a weird wedge in it if you look up at the right angle, and I also noticed that the clouds don't move. Which is really pedantic, but didn't they even move in like...Perfect Dark?

By the way, Act 2 is where it gets fun. The beach area is pretty boring in comparison. We blasted through there by using hand-to-hand combat on every zombie. Seeing a group of 3 others run up to a single zombie and kick it to death before it can even stand cracks me up, but I almost feel bad. It's like a zombie hate crime or something, so brutal.

Respawning is very weird. I guess it just tries to place you at the nearest designated spawn point...it doesn't seem to matter whether you're on a mission or not. After you get out of the safehouse in the very beginning, you sometimes spawn right next to a group of 10 zombies out in the middle of nowhere. It's both hilarious and frustrating. I was dying laughing at my friend...for like five times in a row, every time he respawned it was right next to
NSFW: show
those suicide bomber guys that instantly kill you

He was getting so fucking mad. It's not an efficient system but I'll look past it because it's so funny.

Yeah, that's really how I want to spend my hard-earned money...on a title to point and laugh at.

The more I hear about, the more it sounds as if it's another rushed-out-the-door-too-early release in general.

The PC version also has the annoying little bonus of always-on voice-activated mic. You can't disable it. It's there because console dudes don't have a push-to-talk key and I guess the devs were too lazy to change that...we always use Mumble for voice chat, and the ingame voice fidelity is really bad, but you just gotta deal with the echo because there's no other way. Nobody feels like shouting into the mic so they can be heard ingame at 2 in the morning.

It's a pain in the ass to join a friend's server as well, because of the way it's set up. I dunno if Xbox Live/PSN dudes are having any problems but sometimes you'll see their server, other times not...you gotta use virtual LAN programs like Tunngle or Hamachi to get everyone in the same server. That part sucks.

On the plus side, the game runs very smoothly and the controls aren't horrifically awkward like in a lot of console ports.

As a whole, I would not be playing this alone.

i think people are pretty picky about little things in their reviews. i personally like dead island. yeah it has it's flaws, but it's still fun. i was reading a review when it first came out and this tool was like "AND WHEN YOU KILL A ZOMBIE AND IT FALLS IN A POOL, THERE ISN'T A CLOUD OF BLOOD THIS GAME BLOWS"

I'm seriously considering picking up Dead Island myself. I've been watching some pretty hilarious walkthroughs. Xbox 360 or PS3?

So after spending nearly all of my gameplay thus far with weapons that would have been great about six levels ago, I get the good fortune of finding a random "rare" axe. It does almost double the damage my shitty common knives and stuff are doing, so I sell all of them except for one which I'll keep around to throw at traps and stuff.

So I encounter this big zombie, toss my useless knife at him as an opening attack, beat on him for a while and when he's at 1% health, I throw my super sweet axe at him for the kill. I walk over to his body, retrieve my crap knife and......and where the fuck is my axe?!

It disappeared. The only weapon I've had so far that didn't make every fight a battle of attrition where I duck and weave, whittling down zombies forever. Weapons aren't supposed to disappear like that.
