I used to have a DE7, and I thought it was pretty cool. II wasn't crazy for the Echo mode when I had it though. Maybe I was just using it wrong. I need a delay for my noise rig. I'll see if I can find one on the cheap!

So good...but so ugly...but...with my green led cables...well, fuck

Nope. I can't do it.
The Bitrazer and Scooper, I can do. They sound amazing and look Moogy, even though they're digital. 15 free e-modules in 'em, so even one is enough to get anybody started, without a case or anything else, and a good education along the way.
The Scooper is the Roland scatter effect + a looper. They haven't put the scatter effect into a pedal yet and I'm wondering why the fuck not. It's like a super-smooth high-end Possessed.

Bottom row is the Malekko babies, with the little M insignia(brand) on the bottom(ass).

I think they're keeping it out of pedals to force more people to go modular. Saved their best new effects for this, the sneaky bastards.
I'm thinking about just getting the Scooper and Bitrazer before anything else now since they take regular power. Instant gratification.
But I want to get the case and power sorted before all else, while I'm still resolved enough to take the most painful hit first. OOF.

Why not just put it on a single pedal loop? If you have power issue just look At the One control black loop, which might help you in that regard.

The Scooper and Bitrazer (and Demora and Torcido) are eurorack fx modules, that come with their own power adapter, and can be used standalone/tabletop.

http://www.roland.com/products/scooper/specifications/

I've got to hand it to Roland, it is a big ballsy move to abandon/give the finger to the eurorack power strip by introducing the option of a normal DC power adapter to these big units. To an outsider/noob like me it seems like a major step forward for the industry, and it makes a mark that's appropriate to their status in the history of synth.
ROLAND IN THE HOUSE BITCHES, FUCK YO POWER SUPPLY
And somebody had to do it. I hope more builders follow suit and start making it the first option. I'm starting to feel pretty good about putting my first bit of eurorack money towards it, actually. It's a visible, low-cost invitation into modular(a benefit the rest of the industry should be grateful for), and it comes with instructions for dummies, teaching aids, and cool new effects that make you feel better about spending $300.

Funny how the circle of life turns. Seduced by all the sexy boutique stuff, end up starting with boss.

Anybody like the Ernie Ball 10-52 skinny top, heavy bottoms? I got a pack today that I'm gonna try out on my wife's SG.

They are on all my guitars at the moment. I did like them and got a bulk package. Now I don't like them. I had a high e slip off the ball end while I was tuning up. In my opinion, strings can break after so much use. But if I get one slip like that then I think there is a quality issue. I put the last pack on a guitar last week and I'm now looking at buying a different brand of 10-52 strings. Maybe Dunlop :idk:

Using them since 98 or 99. I have broken only two strings in the past 6 years, and the last one was long overdue to be changed. Switched to the Cobalt versions about a year ago, and they have a weird gritty texture on the wound strings that I don't mind. They seem to stay brighter longer. Played a few super hot shows this summer and that did take a toll on them, but they are actually still on right now.

"Eurorack's gateway drug".
So true. Then you can modulate/mangle/trigger/sequence them with Maths, Rene, Yarns, etc...so yeah, all fx-based eurorack, no synthesis necessary.

Yeah, have used them for a couple of years. I don't spend a lot of time choosing or thinking about strings, but they are great IMO.

Also, Warpsmasher, stop pulling me down with you dammit.

Thanks for the responses concerning the strings, guys. Sounds like maybe I picked well. I usually use 10 Boomers. But, that was on my old Telecaster. And, I wanted to try something a bit heavier on her SG.

I always use Not Even Slinky, switched it up to the cobalt version of them; at first I hated the feel, but really missed it when I switched back.

I should change strings, the ones on my Parker are probably telling kids to get of their yard by now.
