SO fun. buuuuut... after a few emails back and forth Erica confirmed my SD card slot is borked, which means i can't save, load or do firmware updates. it is not saddening at ALL to stumble into something i lurrrrve then have to... tearfully wave good bye to it as i shut down for the day?

thankfully, Erica Synths are GREAT about service and are sending a replacement for my poor little Dementia Drum Machine.

I am also thinking a distortion module of some kind would suit me well. Intrigued by the 100 grit, the ritual electronics ones, the WMD Trshmstr. What else is cool?

Aftwr a long modular break I undusted my system after a while, first set a new modul array as I was feeling so confortable the way they were placed/lined before, and had a wonderful noise/session.
I did order a new module from Black Noise Modular im France: the Goma, which is a 3 channel mixer/offet/attenuverter 4hp module, whch will substitute either the Noise Engineering Sinc Defeo ro or the Doepfer QuadMixer (as I'm mostly using the Sindikat for that role).

I've stuck with the all black gimmick for a while. Kinda wish I never bothered now. Aesthetic costs more.

So looks like I've relapsed into eurorack again....

I sold my Make Noise Strega and No Ctrl because I really wasn't using them. I love the sounds out of the Strega, but I don't love the Make Noise interface / controls. I never felt like I was actually in control of the Strega; it always just kind of did it's own thing. With the money I made from those, I ordered a Tides v2, Plaits, and Veils. I've actually had a Clank Chaos and a Mutable Beads for some time, but I've hardly used them as they've been sitting alone in a HEK. Now I should have a nice little compact system that should be a good companion to my Matriarch and Werkstatt.

Now I got the last 2 pieces to complete my puzzle:
- the already mentioned Black Noise Goma (super cool swiss army knife utility), and..
- Centre Village SAW: I was seeking for a tiny 2HP VCO/LFO, and found this Japanese brand on Modulargrid (another candidate was the Erica Synth Pico VCO). Super compact and bare bones, saw and square waves, 3 octaves selector, lfo/vco switch, ins for hard sync and v/oct: Simple but effective!

Now I'll let sit things for a while, and enjoy the system like this. TBH I'm not 100% sure if that Modulaire Maritime Tarot waveshaper/folder was a good move. Whatever... for now like this I have tons of fun and possibilities to mangle sounds!

actually I'm left handed, but I like the 100Grit on the right side, it makes sense to me also in a signal flow path (starting left the sound sources, middle utility/modulation, right Filter and effects).

bTw on the Versio I uploaded this alternative firmware: it's called the Repetita Versio, and it's an amazing looper/delay with lots of possibilities!

In general all the original Noise Engineering firmwares are also super cool! Lately I did a lot of experiments with all their delay/reverbs, and each has it's own character and features.
I mostly use Electus, but also Imitor, Melotus and Desmodus are super cool.

Bought a used Ears to use to bring guitar and other stuff into my rack. Thinking about one of the Versios and some kind of headphone out to round out everything.

Thoughts on the best Versio module to grab? Kind of thinking of the Electus or Polydactyl

Versio in the end doesn't matter which you'll get as you can anytime load any firmware into the module.
I got the Electus, because I wanted a delay mainly, and liked the idea to have the commands with the "delay/reverb labels" (and when I ordered it from a European webshop, the Electus was even cheaper than other Versio modules, retailer mysteries).
A friend has a Desmodus, but when Electus came out he loaded that into his unit (note Desmodus and Electus have the same labels).
Another friend got the Melotus, but then loaded the Polydactyl into it. So it's up to you and your needs.
There is also a "void Versio panel" where the knobs are labeled 1-2-3-4-5-6-7, instead of names.

Ah, I was trying to think which firmware I'd have installed most of the time so that the labels will match up, but the void panel might solve that issues. Not sure why, but I dislike the idea of having mislabeled controls

Actually the Ruina might have been my choice over the Polydactyl; I’m more interested in bringing some fuzz and distortion into my rack than compression/saturation. But I think literally the cheapest one I can find and the void panel will be my best path forward.
