Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
lol. and now just with this -

i have a few synths and drum machines and controllers. wayyyyy happier like this. as awesooooooome as Euro is, a big setup is not for me. spent way more time buying new things and rearranging than i did making noises.
also, looks like the first batch of Perkons are starting to ship. i shoullllld be in that splurt, i hope so.
also also, i lucked out and got one of the half price Opsix's that wasn't borked. WOOT.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Nice behndy!
Feeling the same right now. I still have the rest my modules in my Trogotronic case but right now I am using only Nerdseq, Assimil8or, Ochd and Linnaeus in a pittsburgh structure 96. Along with that I have my MPC and a keyboard connected to Microwave XT, Essencefm and NL2X.
I might change my mind shortly but right now I feel like I prefer hardware synths and samplers over modular.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
So slowly I'm getting my pieces together: Got a second hand makenoise skiff, today I received cables, some diy landscape Allflesh touch/contact pads, and my first 2 modules (Doefper Quad LFO and Noise Eng.Sinc Defero)!
Just listening to LFOs buzzing together now
But tomorrow and/or Thursday I shall recevied 2 further deliveries and then I'll be ready to mangle my first drones!

And here it is!
I'm still missing a main synth voice/oscillator (there is an 8hp plaits clone on the way), but so far incredible what you can go with only these modules! Next step is better understand how the Schlappis work and connect the Korg SQ1 to the system.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yes they are the Tendrils! I got these as a friend is already using these and he told me only good stuff about 'em. They are super practical, being L-plugs everything stays flat and you have easy access to all the knobs!vidret wrote:Are all your cables tendrils? How are they? Was gonna get some myself for some of the stuff I keep patched most of the time.
The Boundary is super cool, I did an in depth session yesterday, with the manual in front of me, and slowly I'm getting better understanding of what it does!
Super happy about the Doepfer Quad LFO, as I discovered inside you have connection point to have different ranges (veeeeeery slow, and up to audio range), so I've set 2 fast and 2 slow.
Also the QUAD Mixer is suuuper handy, and has this very clever Selected Output. Example: I patch all 4 inputs from different sources. Now on Channel 1 I patch its output 1 and go somewhere else. Now Selected outputs channels 2, 3 and 4 together! (So lucky I speak german too... the english translation on the Doepfer website about the Selected out is really clumsy...)
Yesterday I also got the notice the Big T Music Beehive module (plaits 8hp clone) was shipped, so soon my skiff shall be complete!
I did check a lot of demos of Noise Engineering oscillators these days. These are really cool on paper, it think the Manis of the Loquelis may fit very well in my setup. But there are too many hard techno videos out there using these... after a while I got kind of bored and confused, as you get the feel these sounds all the same.

Btw checking out different Versio's firmwares: this module is so fun and amazing!

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
This is a tiny extract from a session I did today:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/ChcWBgAD ... MyMTA2M2Y=
100Grit is king here, taking care of filtering, gain staging/distortion and various noises.
Often I also route the Dist out on 100grit to the doepfer quad mixer and then feed it back into 100Grit Main input for even more madness!
The Boundary was used as main sound source and the Versio for some delay duties (btw I ended installing the Desmodus firmware instead of Electus, and it's super fun to use! Works even better than Electus for my needs at present time. Ruina firmware is also super fun and mad!).

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Here another extract a session I did Sunday morning:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/ChhdDD6j ... MyMTA2M2Y=
Main voice is again the 100Grit, no sequenzer here, as all was modulated with LFOs. One LFO is controlling the FSU switch on the Desmodus to create those rhythmic instant freeze effects.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I came back from holidays to find few packages at my place.
One with the Black Noise Sallen Key MS20 HP/LP filter (which can also behave as a sine oscillator with maxed feedback) and then few blank panels.
Now the funny part: I got as many blank panels to close all the holes in the case (as per spec I was told Make Noise Skiff is 104hp), and what do I find out...? There is still a 2hp gap left!!
So my MN Skiff go up to 106hp space. Did anybody else ever noticed this "extra" on their Skiffs?

100grit is amazing, as filter, distortion module or stand alone as noise maker, or all 3 combined together!!! You're gonna have tons of fun!

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Here my system at the moment. I got 2 modules from Modulaire Maritime:
- Tarot, super cool waveshaper/folder with tons of control
- Sindikat, very clever sum/mix/attenuverter/gain utility module

The Tarot looks very interesting, and the Sindikat is super useful. Hadn't heard of that company, looks like nice stuff! You have a very aesthetically pleasing system too

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Modulaire Maritime have some very cool utility modules in their catalog! Super well designed and very practical. The Sindikat is a join and fun to (ab)use. And you can also cascade the AB+CD inputs, so that oyu cna have it also to behave like a distortion/gain-stage
I was almost tempted to get also their quad envelope (ENA) and the quad mixer (BLK BLK).
