If you're planning on the Steam version, you should read this before buying.

Ridiculously stoked on the RE4 updated PS3 version and Dead Island!!!

Haven't played a video game in months due to kids and pedal building, but I'm stoked to lose myself in an RE game again!!!

lol...I wouldn't be so excited about Dead Island. At least not for a week or so.

Super messy launch. They already released a patch for it and some of the features still aren't working.

Bummed to hear a lot of neg stuff about dead island, especially that it suffers from the same weapon issue that dead rising did.

Weapons break so easily it's not worth spending the time to create the unique ones.
Why create such an awesome weapon system if you force players to use a baseball bat/paddle 95% of the time?

The bugs seem to have been fixed, or at least most of them. I'm playing it on a friend's Steam account right now.

It's not bad. You can upgrade the durability of your weapons, unlike in Dead Rising, but the IMPORTANT part is that the weapons don't break forever. They just do almost no damage once they're "broken". You can repair them and use them again. It's not like how you had to make 3-4 of the special weapons to do anything in Dead Rising. So, I'm glad about that.

The combat is pretty brutal, and the upgraded kick finisher is awesome. I like how you can literally break faces when you hit them with a wrench. Also, punching the shit out of things is both highly satisfying and actually useful. It's not like how in a lot of other FPS games, punches are about as effective as flamethrowers...that is, not at all...
The storyline is "eh". I don't care about any of the people I'm supposed to be helping. I just want to go out and kill zombies. The driving view sucks because of how slowly your head turns, but it doesn't really matter because the roads aren't complex and you're invincible in a car anyway.

Yeah, apparently they did release the wrong base copy to Steam for distribution, so that part should be corrected by this weekend. There are still a number of bugs in the game itself tho that will need to be patched fast, tho. This is what happens when you either A) don't test the game thoroughly before release, or B) you DO test and/but don't listen to what your testers are telling you. Both have happened before and will happen again.

or....:

c) let early adopters of games be your testers, since that's signifigantly cheaper

which, honestly, happens way too frequently.
