Wow, Boundary looks really nice too. Might be a bit big for my system as I'm sticking to 84hp (plus a bunch of semi-modulars)

I've definitely thought about all of that quite in depth too. Leaning towards the Maths due to the logic/mixing middle channels.

I've also considered Contour and a Mini Slew with a Mutable Kinks and Shades to make up for the middle of Maths. Boundary plus Countour would be pretty good option too

MODULAR!

I have been rocking a really cool filtering set-up using a Doepfer A-128 Fixed Filter Bank into a Bionic Lester mk3. I can shape my tone somewhat endlessly with the A-128 and then scream it up or shoot it up with drugs using the Lester.

The Lester is so cool, it is choice. The comb filter sounds so bonkers I haven't found a use for it yet but all the other types shine. Honestly, I was expecting more bite from the drive section but it still has some mojo so I ain't mad at it in any way.

i've looked at the lester mk3 more than twice, the layout and the routing of the cv seems quite optimal. two fully featured filters in 15hp is quite nice.

How are the filters one at a time? Would it be a fair comparison to other filters to use only one of them or do you really want to utilize both?

fixed filter banks are so juicy, my planar 2 is shaking in its befaco knurlings ever since the zlob vc filter bank came out.
I actually haven't fully figured out how to use both Lester filters at once and so have mostly been using one-at-a-time. All the modes sound fantastic solo, even the noisesome comb mode.

The ZLOB Filter Bank looks sick. I had considered laying out major money for a Verbos Bark or Frap Fumana (so shiny) but ended up just dropping a bit over a hundred USD for the Doepfer. No VC, sadly, but more than enough bands to really craft interesting stuff.

That Zlob filter bank does look really good for functions and layout, but I would have to get a different panel. That's a bit much on the eyes

right? i would grab one in a SECOND with a panel that didn't equal parts confuse my brain meats and make me want to commit Saracha Seppuku on my eyeballs.

Limited modular engagement on this one but 100% electronic music fun time.

Thanks for checking it out!

So I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a Boredbrain OPTX and a TBD audio interface that has ADAT I/O. (Not to mention I need a nee computer... It's all money....)

I've always wanted to multitrack, but I'm kind of thinking limiting myself to 8 tracks will be a good start to not overwhelm myself. I find that when I do stereo, I tend to like the vibes of takes, but that something's always off on the leveling be it drums or something else.

Also y'all have me looking at Data Bender again, and it's becoming more appealing. UGH.

yes. recording to stereo is nice and stuff but listening back to it I also find my levels are all wrong. I think this is because as I'm jamming and recording my focus is on what I'm doing and the elements I'm shaping, but I fail to notice that the levels aren't great.
But I don't enjoy re-recording a zillion times either.
EXACTLY. But why is a good multitrack recording solution so fucking expensive?

so.... i mean... how many tracks at a time are you looking for? i have 16 in, and it was about 7 hundy, but that was for a mixer that records each channel separately. if you wanted a rackmount, you can find 4 and 5 hundy solutions. or even the Focusrite stuff, there's a desktop 8 in unit for less than $400 new -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E6T547Y/

that has ADAT in. i was running it with an OctoPre that gave me 16 ins in a tiny amount of space.

i prefer a good USB multitrack mixer though. more hands on control of the ins and outs and monitoring.

Damn, now that Andrew Huang is back from his space trip thing, he's back to giving me gas:

I'd never really thought about using a reverb as a sound source like this before, but it sounds pretty cool
